Hello from Western NY

Hello all... found this forum this eve and am looking forward to gaining some great info in the near future. At this time, we do not have a trike but are in the very beginning stages of thinking about one (cant get much more non-comittal than that). Anyway, we are about half way through converting a coach and are interested in a trike to pull behind it for when we travel. We plan to finish the coach project this fall and will hopefully have gathered enough info to start our trike project then.

Believe me you are not the first to come in here to do some trike-thinkin', and if you are like the others it won't be long before that thinking turns to dreams, to plans, and to a big grin as you ride your trike! I pull our trike behind a motor-home. The trike is our only transportation when we park the motor-home. We think this is a great way to travel. We will be leaving for Arizona, Sunday, for two months.
I had two bikes until I converted one to a trike last summer, now I have a bike and my wife Pat has a trike . She doesn't drive the trike, but loves to look around and take pictures. We greatly enjoy our trike, and like others wish we had done it sooner.

Welcome... Where in W NY are U? I didn't look in your profile . we are in W Conn. Trike builders are far and few between in this area. There is a DFT builder in your area. I don't know his name off the top of my head but I meet him at Americade ( in Lake George first week in June ) every year.

Just checked the map.... wow you must know everyone in town <LOL> You are 409 miles from here. I will check on that DFT installer. Check the albums to see who the people are that you talk to on her. Just click on the name and go to albums on the right side.

Welcome lfd1, hope U will enjoy the board. Don't be afraid to ask questions and jump right in with your opinions. You will find out there are several different brands of trike Manf. and of course everyone thinks theres is the best. U will need to ride as many as u can and then deceide what is best for U and the wife. it is the same with the motorcycle, Harley or Honda are the 2 major types for trikes both are good it is just which ever U like. We have a toyhauler that we carry our trike and trailer in, thinking of a Motorhome but that is about as far as it has gotten. Good luck and Welcome.

Welcome aboard from Florida! I found this forum last year, and was able to do a lot of my research by asking questions here. Along with all the other info I found on the internet, and several test rides, I was able to feel very confident in the trike I eventually chose--which I should have next month--can't wait!

Thanks all for the welcome. Im not shy and wont hesitate to ask questions..I do live in a small town but am pretty close to Buffalo. I dont have a bike now..Its been quite a few years. i dont have much interest in a 2 wheeler, but am pretty excited on the idea of a trike. Im down on Fla on vacation now and went to a trike dealer in ft Myers today. They use Motor trike conversions. i was kinda partial to the GW. The folks there were real nice and I got a good lesson today.

hi Ifd1, So glad you found us here on the web. Trikes have opened the door to a lot of new people that have never even sat on a motorcycle. When you get down to deciding what you want, you'll more than likely be flooded with info. Just remember to do your homework and think about what you REALLY want and need from the trike. All the brands are usually as good as the next, so your dealer/builder makes the big difference. So fire away and join right in with us. Glad to meet you....

Welcome Ifd,1, well you sure hit the Mother lode for info on this site. I'm from your neck of the woods and I found the people here are real helpful. DFT dealer that John mentioned was TRI-CYCLES in Gowanda, N.Y. a guy named Larry will help you out. Stan's Harley Davidson in Batavia handles the Motor Trikes, Ray Laks in lancaster handles the CSC trikes. You can call the Factory for a listing of Champion info. Same goes for the Hannigan Kit, theres a great Dealer for Hannigan in Marietta, Ohio called Hometown Honda, contact is Alan also on this site you can hook up with a great Dealer and he goes by Zook, you'll see his posts. So just ask away and if you want just e-mail me. If possible get up to Lake George for Americade the first full week in June.............

Tis, tks for the info on the local dealers. I looked at the Americade website. Looks like a good time. however, we have made the decision to stay close to home this summer and get our bus conversion complete. Once thats done we can concentrate on a trike build !

For U lfd1 , it would be a 300 mile ride. The only good thing is you would get all your answers to your questions in one place and be able to ride almost every brand in one day. Champion is the only one I have never seen there. Like it was said before everyone likes what they bought so opinions are not really a good measurement. Tis gave u some good places to try them.
