Dropping in to say Hi. Very new here with one post going. I am also a very new Trike rider... and just a rider overall. <br />

I gotta keep this quick (sneak posting at work) but I have been disabled all my life. The thought of riding a bike was very foreign to me, and the fact that I get to go out with my wife and hit the open road has been a thrill and a half. <br />
<br />
I have a 2003 Honda Silverwing with a Voyager trike kit. From what I gather from the looks from other bikers it's:<br />

"Is that a Motorcycle or a moped?!?"<br />
<br />
or <br />
<br />
"Is that a trike or is it training wheels?!?"<br />
<br />
Either way, to me, it's not anything but a great ride that I have never been able to do in the past. <br />
<br />

I had a Silverwing with a Tow-Pac Insta-Trike....lots of comments, but most were positive. I sold it to someone with one shoe.<br />

Be CAREFUL around Sacramento - even in a larger vehicle they try to run you over.

Welcome, Hey do not worry what the others say to you about your ride. Your in the wind and that's what is important. Your bike is a motorcycle in every state that I know of. I put together a Suzuki Burgman 650 with the TOW-PAC for my daughter (36). She absolutely loved it. Rode for a year and then just moved up to a Honda 1500 Goldwing with a CSC conversion. We just sold the Burgman to a lady that it would of been almost impossible for her to get on a regular frame trike, but because of the pass through frame she was able to get on the Burgman. The look on her face on the trike was something to behold. So enjoy your ride it looks GREAT. Again welcome to the group.

In all honesty some of the strange looks I get do not bother me. Me and my wife have a good laugh when we pass by a motorcycle rider and see the hesitation of his hand almost coming up to say hi. Most of the time though we are greeted with much welcome and happy interrogations on the neat mobile.

Just remember, you didn't buy that SilverWing to please the rest of the world, you bought it to please you. I ride a Stallion and get some to the same comments. I just consider the source and continue to have a ball riding. Thats what its all about anyway.<br />

You can go anywhere that any other street bike can go and do it in more comfort than many of them.<br />

Welcome and congratulations on your great new trike. Lots of discussions as to whether or not it is really a trike because it has four wheels. Doesn't matter what others think it is. It's a great looking ride that gets you out in the wind and enjoying what all of us motorcycle enthusiasts love. Good for you and although I enjoy the old school harley looks in trikes for myself, I can still appreciate and enjoy other peoples styles and likes. And I think that is a very unique and good looking trike. <br />

Great looking ride. I ran a Voyager on my 1100 Goldwing before I got the 1500 GW DFT . Ran it for 2 years.. I would like to Ask one question. you say you have been disabled all your life so this tells me you never rode a 2 wheel bike. How much of a Hassel did CALF give you get the License. See my Comments in " OFF Topic " under Going to the Capital for explanation of y I am asking .

</div>Ignorance may be bliss on this one. From what research I did I gather trikes take a normal class C license to drive. The back of my license says I must have full hand control and it must be automatic. <br /><br /><br /><br />

Minus getting the Engine VIN at CHP headquarters, I haven't had any problems with getting registered.<br /><br /><br />

The DMV Officers were very nice (they had a stolen vehicle that took most of my time slot, so they were thankful I wasn't irate) They even had a good long look at my license and my trike...<br /><br />

they only thing they said was to be safe.<br />

Another officer offered advice on add ons for a smoother ride.

I read on a post elsewhere that because the trike can be taken off, they can get ya if you do not have a motorcycle license. I do not know the CA rules on this, but I haven't been pulled over yet.... knock on wood. A goal of mines is to get a Motorcycle license (If I can) just to get past any confusion, and to have a better knowledge of biking rules. <br /><br /><br /><br />
