I think you may have a Monarch 1 model which came with a linked drum brake system (easy way to confirm is that your trunk door hinges at the bottom and opens downward). This is a completely different rear-end and brake system then the Monarch II which comes standard with linked disc brakes - the design change is not a retrofit unfortunately.
