Not charging
Found the starter solenoid crumbling and installed a new one. Didn't solve the problem and Yamaha Roadstar rectifiers can't be bench tested. So I removed it, started the bike up, and tested the stator. Got 65 volts AC, checked the cables and didn't see an issue, and starter checked good. New rectifier should arrive tomorrow.

On the Road - Almost
Changed out the starter solenoid and rectifier, got 14.2 volts at the battery running. Karen took off on a road test and the bike failed. She shut it down 60 miles into her trip, the engine jumped and backfired before shutting down. She tried to jump it with a NOCO Boost Plus jump start battery and nothing. Not even the gauges move. All fuses check good. Oh well. Her bike took the ride of shame on a trailer home where I checked the battery. ZERO, nothing, no voltage at all. Pulled the Starter solenoid and it checked out good. Checked the jumper battery and found it is putting out a mere six volts. Not good there. So I put the battery on charge tonight and will check it tomorrow. But I am concerned that even though it was charging, could the battery have been just good enough to give her one or three cranks even being new? That engine jump and backfire could very well have been it drawing the last of the battery juice when shutting down. I so truly hate that despicable electrical crap.

Finished paint
My wife and I have been riding a lot and recently slowed down. So I am finally posting pictures of my wife's Roadstar. The base white and black is all I painted. The rest is was done by a professional.

Nice! I thought I was doing good just installing a kit.
On that regulator, I hope you didn't use a cheap china one. Usually don't last more than a couple weeks. OEM is the only way to go on that one.
I would really like to see that at the Maggie Valley event in September!!
