Re: Tri-Glide Steering Damper
That's strange, but I'll check with my guy at HD. I generally buy my HD parts at Zanotti, and they show the numbers, but I did not try to order. I should have an answer tomorrow.

Re: Tri-Glide Steering Damper
TONYD-Do what I did. Buy the 2 mounting brackets for the damper from HD. There not very expensive, then just buy a universal damper on ebay. Most any will mount to the brackets. Thats what I did and it works great and I saved about $200.
Re: Tri-Glide Steering Damper
So I took CRZRLOU advice and bought this on Ebay MOTORCYCLE HYDRAULIC STEERING DAMPER STABILIZER ATV : eBay Motors (item 190377733487 end time Mar-12-10 17:10:01 PST)
Made for an HD and only cost me 52 bucks..he has more listed....so off to the dealer to buy the brackets
Thanks Dave for all the install info..and thanks to LOU for the great advice

Re: Tri-Glide Steering Damper
Tony post some pictures of the install for us please. And also what you think of it.
Re: Tri-Glide Steering Damper
Tonyd- you really lucked out getting that damper for only $52. I paid $92. for the exact same one from the exact same seller. With this damper for it to work you will have to saw the flat end of the mount off for it to clear (easy with a hack saw). Also the bolt in the mount that mounts to the frame has to come out. Just put it in a vice and hit it with a hammer and it will come out and then bend the mount where the bolt was down about a half inch. You will need to use a different bolt about 1 1/2" with 2 lock nuts on it. Tighten them until you can just move the damper because it has to move when working. I put grease on the bolt for extra measure. Minor alterations to do to save a lot of money. Any one not wanting to make these modifications should just get all HD factory parts.
Re: Tri-Glide Steering Damper
The same seller has another one for sale if anyone needs one?

Re: Tri-Glide Steering Damper
Again thanks for the mounting info Lou but Im a bit confused...you said "saw the flat end of the mount off for it to clear".... ok where is the flat end and is it on the damper itself??.....and cant the other hiem joint work for the movement needed??
