Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
I have a Garmin Nuvi 2555 that I've used successfully both in my car and in the side, drivers window of a 45' tour bus. No problems - works great. Recently, with the correct Ram mount, I used it on my GL1500. Seems to work OK but occasionally a "pop up" message appears telling me I should be using an external antenna for best accuracy. I don't "get it" since the device sits out in the open with no "overhead" obstructions. The "pop up" stays on for 10 or 15 seconds, goes away, then we're "back to normal" until the message re-appears - maybe 10 minutes later (+ or -). Until using it on the bike, I never even saw this "pop-up" before.
This is not really a big deal except it's annoying and for the "mystery" of why it thinks an external antenna is required. Do any of you electronic "gurus" have an explanation? Thanks.
I'm thinking your flux capacitor might be on the fritz!:D
Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
Is that the same capacitor that's located next to the phramis pin? :D  ThumbUp

...it's the green wire next the gigafux connector...for hells sake!:D
Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
If you would run 88 miles per hour it would disappear. pepper
Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
Probably the flux capacitor alright but just by chance are you using the same power cord.
Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
To try and give a semi serious answer to your question is it possible that the mass of metal from the first two vehicles acts as an antenna booster while the 1500's largely plastic body does not?
Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
Thanks for everyone's input. Keep those "cards and letters" pouring in... :D  ThumbUp
Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
Is there possibly something on the ram mount that is shielding the antenna on your Garmin? My only thought.
Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
Just a thought have you tried Garmin for their input?RIDE SAFE

Gorilla - good thought, I will investigate.

Didn't try Garmin yet (I will). I thought some of the TT folks might have had a similar incident and already know the "magic answer/cure".
Overall, it's probably not a big deal - more of a puzzle. Thank you to all for taking the time to reply (even the "goofy" answers were entertaining). :D ThumbUp
Re: Dumb (?) Nuvi Question
I used my Navi on a flight from Houston to Cinci and you should have heard that little voice every five seconds saying "recalculating" That little device was "smokin"
