Robert, no answer for you but this thread could go downhill fast!!!
I could send you pictures, But i'm unable to since the FBI has confiscated my camera equipment.............:D
I knew this could get out of hand but it looks like someone may have trimmed some off the dipstick tube in my motor. I noticed a jagged edge at the opening this after noon. If this is the case it may explain my oil issues.
So you're looking for how much of the tube sticks up out of the block, Robert?
Odd that someone cut has it. Not sure why that would be done???
Yes I am. I do not know why it would be cut but is does not look like the top of any dipstick I have seen.
Not in the shop right now, so I'll get back tomorrow.
Maybe another member can pipe in sooner with the answer, (pun intended:p)...

Probably an any port in a storm dipstick , And the previous owner just cut it back to make it fit/plug on the tube....

A odd question, but a worthy one. I ran across an article about aftermarket dip sticks and how accurate they may not be.
I have this chromed one, it is impossible to see fresh oil on it, but it is what the engine has on it.
I guess one might have cut on it, but they dipstick head can cause a lot of abuse when sliding it down, some like to push and cram it down. This type of abuse can damage it for sure.
Hope you can get this issue resolved.
