First VW trike build
I've wanted to build a trike out of a VW for quite some time, and I've recently gotten the majority of the parts I need. I have a dual port engine (made in 70-71), a transaxle and rear end, and a big honda frame and forks. I've begun tearing into the engine. I'm very mechanically inclined and have the tools and space. I have pictures of the project up to this point, which I will be sharing as soon as I find out how to post them. Any, ANY, helpful suggestions are very welcome. This is the first opposing engine I've ever tore down.

That is awesome man!!!!!
And a huge welcome to Trike Talk!!!!!!!
Yes, yes, we need pictures. :p
It would help to see where your at and how things are going. It might make it easier to see some things that members can give suggestions on.
If you have "begun tearing into the engine" I'm to assume you have rebuilt or worked on VW engines in the past? Like anything there are tricks of the trade.
Looking forward to the pictures.
And if you have issues posting up pictures you can always host the pics on Photobucket or Imgur and just link here until you have enough posts to get the pics up here. :pepper:

It is just a big lawnmower engine.
The biggest problem is how much stuff that can be worn out or out of spec. We are talking about an old 45 Yr old car.
I use photobucket. It is easier to work with one my phone.
What kind of style are you thinking ?
