Is it normal to hear the cam chain. I have an 08 1800 with 50000 on it. when at idle I can hear the cam chain. It doesn't seem excessive loud. I was just wondering if that is the norm

Sorry, but on a GL1800, I've never heard cam-chain noise. I've read others who talk about it, but have never heard it myself. Can you take a video with your smartphone, email it to yourself, open it and verify that it has the sounds you are hoping others can hear, then post it on youtube and copy and past the link here ???
To my knowledge, cam chain noise on a GL1800 does not exist, but I could be wrong.
Does it sound like this ???

In the video post above, I hear 4 noises. All 4 are normal; however, 1 should mostly go away if he center-spected his valve adjustment.
Do any of those 4 individual sounds stop if the clutch lever is pulled in?
That is not the sound I am hearing. And pulling in the clutch does not change the sound. As for the video, I am electronically challenged. I will see if I can get my grandson to help. After the bike gets up to normal temp. the noise gets quieter. But it is still there after the engine drops from fast idle to normal idle.

I'm not hearing any clutch related noise in that video.
