Parking brake
I just looked at some threads about Hannigan parking brake kits.I have a 99 GL1500 and just put a down payment on a 05 GL1800 with Lehman conversion that I will pick up on july 1st. Both don't have hand brakes.Has anybody here looked into hydraulic inline brake valves( Wilwood makes several different ones)? We used those on our Detomaso Pantera race cars.Installation should be pretty straight forward

Place a zip tie around the the right side reservoir and snug it semi tight for sizing. Cut off the tie tail.
When you park, take the tie and slip it across the front brake lever and hand grip.
Instant parking brake. Slip the tie back on the reservoir when your done... nice holder.

Thanks Jack,that looks pretty good.Picked up the 05 lehman monarchII and surprise,surprise,it has a handbrake.One less thing I have to take care of.Had a nice 500 ml drive home and like it a lot.]Thanks to all that replied

Have you tried to simply push the reverse button. That locks drive train on my 1800 Goldwings. Push button running or not - bike will not move. SORRY FURTHER READING OF POSTS CLAIM THIS CAN DAMAGE YOUR CYCLE. SUGGEST THE PARK IN FIRST GEAR & LOCK STEERING METHOD. May want to keep theft insurance paid up.

I believe hydraulic brake line valves do not meet any DOT requirements for use as parking brakes. My understanding is parking (emergency) brakes must be mechanically actuated separate from the hydraulic braking system. Having said that, those of us without parking brakes would find hydraulic valve systems very useful. I'm not comfortable depending upon putting the bike in gear in lieu of a parking brake. Don't know if it stresses the transmission or not. But having something like the Bullet Brake in addition to leaving the bike in gear couldn't hurt.....?

I have a bullet brake on my motor trike and it works very well. Fairly easy to set, right there when you need it and has never let me down. The only problem I have, and it’s a small problem, is that to set it, it’s a bit of a two handed job. You pull in on the brake handle and then with the other hand, you push in on the small plunger that locks the brake. If the bike is still running, you have to either find neutral and or shut the bike off to free up the clutch hand.
