What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
OK Hannigan Trike owners, here's your chance to brag on your Hannigan Trike and tell current and future trike owners why they should buy a Hannigan Trike or Trike Conversion. Topics of interest will be ride, handling, features, benefits, design, fitment, service, price, styling, etc. There will be NO FLAMING or complaining in this thread towards any dealer or the manufacturer as there are other places for that.
This thread will be based on your positive experiences and why you bought a Hannigan and why you recommend Hannigan to others. Please state the make and model of your bike and the make and model of your Hannigan Conversion along with how long you have owned it and how many Hannigan Trikes you have owned.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I don't currently own a Hannigan trike, but I did… and it was wonderful! I had dreamed of a V-rod trike for some years -- sort of like wanting a corvette just because it is HOT!!! When the opportunity arose, and the time was right, I bought an '09 V-rod and started planning. I found options for trike kits somewhat limited, but then I had the opportunity to tour the Hannigan factory, meet the wonderful family of owners and employees there, see the quality and exceptional design in person, and to see an example of their V-rod trike on the showroom floor. I was sold! The kit was sleek, sporty, and HOT -- just what I wanted!
Working with Dave, Ruth Ann, Andrew, John, and Jim was wonderful. They built the trike right there in their factory, and every part of it was top-notch including a flawless paint job. Questions and curiosity were welcomed, and I was always made to feel that my phone call or visit was valued and important to them.
The trike had independent suspension and the ride was smooth as silk.
It certainly was unique and drew a lot of attention everywhere I went! I loved it, and would still have it had I not been broadsided in June of this year by someone running a stop sign.
But even though the very violent crash totaled the trike, breaking the axle and bending the bike frame, I give a lot of credit to the quality of the trike kit and build as I believe it contributed to saving me from critical injury or death. The trike NEVER tipped or wobbled. Although I was thrown off and did receive a lot of surface injury, I was able to ride out the initial collision for a second or two as the trike stayed upright and rolled forward/sideways away from the point of impact.
Without hesitation, I recommend Hannigan's products and their company to anyone considering them!

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I'm impressed with the engineering, it feels solid and rides smooth. I like the style of the new GEN2, IMO they did a great job taking inspiration from the 2012 Wing. Working with John was a great experience, I really appreciated them letting me park the enclosed trailer at their factory so I could save some money on gas. The paint is flawless a perfect match to the factory color which as a former painter I know how difficult it can sometimes be getting a good match. Before I bought a Hannigan I had folks who owned them tell me they were the Cadillacs and I believe them, I'm looking forward to many miles.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
We have an '09 Yamaha Royal Star Venture with Hannigan conversion done the summer of '10. Bike was new with 100 miles when converted. There were few conversions available for our bike, but was impressed by the Hannigan construction. Our trike is long and wide. The conversion almost doubled the price of our ride, but RSV was just too heavy to handle safely with the two of us aboard. We were very happy with the workmanship on our new trike, color match, fit, condition, etc. After a year, rear brakes began squealing very loudly. Took trike to Hannigan factory, and Jim Gooch replaced rotors with vented stainless steel rotors and replaced brake pads. Jim was very nice to me.
Reverse option was not available when we ordered conversion, but it is now available.
Would have ordered reverse if it had been available. We live in NJ, and our trike has traveled from Key West to Sherbrooke, Canada to Arkansas to Minnesota and many rallies in between. Trike has climbed to the summit of Mt. Washington twice, and this summer we rode the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway. Trike now has 23,000 carefree miles, even though I had a broken shoulder during the summer of 2012, which disabled me for four months. Love to drive trike on the open roads. It gives such a nice ride. This year, plan to go to rally in Colorado and also visit some western national parks. Still trying to convince Jeannette to join me.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I'm going to second what you have written. The issue of paint is very worthy of sharing. I had my conversion done at the factory in Murray and Tim ( pretty sure I am right) did and does as good a job as any paint job you will find on anything coming off the auto assembly lines. Extremely pleased with the quality and as mentioned, the "richness" of the color. Matches the Flair Red of the Wing to a tee. Like msocko, I too was allowed to park the trailer onsite and that was big for me since I went home during the build and was thankful that I did not have to pull the trailer the 880 miles back then turn around and do it again. While on site, I really felt as if I was welcomed and made to feel a part of the process. Everyone was happy to answer questions and explain what was going on and no one minded all the pictures of the build that I was sending back to my lovely bride. That is, before she surprised me by showing up, with the help of a local Nashville guy who I owe a payback now for keeping such a secret. What a cool surprise that was.
I have ridden several other kits and your use of the term "Cadillac" about nailed it for me. Over the course of my looking to make this decision, and the time I have spent around the Trike Community, it was clear that the Hannigan name was synonymous with quality and craftsmanship. It's easy to see when you visit as the Team that works at the factory are like Family. I know this is a term that gets overused from time to time, but just spend some time onsite and you will see for yourself that these guys like Jim, Neil, Aron, Tim, Randy, Chris and the rest of the gang work hard to make it all happen and really do enjoy what they do. Oh and that John Lee guy is something to see in action . . . . . .
The Team went way beyond what I would have expected when transferring over my wheelchair rack and helping to work out my brake issues. They took something that was not made by them and insisted on making it better and that they did.
Having witnessed the commitment and attention to detail along with the passion to work with the customer is why I mentioned to Dave and Ruth Anne that I would welcome the chance to share what my experiences have been as I ride this great machine around the country. It's been said that life is a journey, and with this Hannigan, it's going to be a smooth, enjoyable ride.
Very well said. I know I'm looking forward to many smooth miles on mine. I have 2 trips planed for next year, one to South Dakota with my dad and the other to Nashville with my wife. What I like about the Wing is the extra power, it'll pull my little Aluma MCT like its not even back there.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I have the 2009 Yamaha RSV hannigan trike, and love the way it performs. It's very smooth, and I love the wide body style. Every place I go people are always commenting on how wide the body is. The suspension is great. It takes the bumps so smoothly. I do like other trike kits - but the hannigan is very outstanding to them.
People have told me that hannigan trike can be seen very clearly at night due to the wide body. I have taken a note to that. I have watch drivers that wanted to pass me give me plenty of room. The bike is very visible at night. If I had to do it over again, I would purchase another hannigan trike.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
Simply put-it is the smoothest riding trike of the many I tested before buying the Gen I Hannigan. It is also, IMO, the most maintenance free of all those I looked at.
-
Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I like the way Wheels tells his story of actually seeing the Hannigan trike build on his great looking machine. I bought my used 2009 BMW K1200LT already triked with just about every option they offered at the time. Best ride I've ever experienced on a bike.
With over 15,000 miles so far, the combination of the heavyweight LT touring bike, plus the Hannigan conversion with the independent rear suspension, auxiliary fuel tank and integration with the BMW ABS system, makes this a truly smooth riding, comfortable touring configuration.
It's no wonder that that every picture of an LT trike I've ever seen is a Hannigan. It feels like quality from front to back. I like the styling, the wide rear axle and huge trunk space.
An email to Hannigan quickly got me a few pages of recommended maintenance. I took that to the local BMW dealer when I put ol' Bessie in for some clutch work. The head mechanic later said that servicing the Hannigan rear end was easier than working on his own car. (Of course, it really helps that you can lift off the body to service the rear brakes and drive line.)
My previous trike was a Suzuki with a Lehman conversion and the difference between the straight axle and the IRS is like night and day. .... Yeah, yeah, I've talked to Lehman, CSC and Harley trikers who swear that they prefer the way a straight axle rides and handles, but I don't think I'll ever again own a trike that doesn't have IRS in back.
My opinion?
Hannigan rocks!!!

Ditto. I had a Hannigan/R1200LT and sold it in a weak moment. It was a splendid machine in all respects as are the Hannigans and their staff. The other kit manufacturers have strong points but none are on par with Hannigan, IMO.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I had my bike triked in 2007 and have put on over 50,000 trouble free miles so far. I am very happy with it and talked a friend into having his done this last summer. What more can I say.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
It is a very good product. I like the quality of the kit. It really surprised me in the handling department. My bike seems to handle better than when it was a two wheeler. I wish I would have triked my Goldwing sooner. The only thing I think that could be improved is the extra fuel tank system. I don't like that I have to switch it on and then switch it off. Should do it automatically, or at least have a light to tell you when the extra tank is empty, but I will get used to that. I have had a lot of comments on how good looking my trike is. Most people tell me it is the best looking trike they have seen. I have a 2013 kit, but I have the longer spoiler on the rear.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
Our Hannigan trike is an 05 with 60,000 miles. We got it because my wife liked the way it rides. It has been to the rocky mt. 3 times,Texas hill country 2 times, and all over the central U S . I like knowing when I leave home it will not break down before we get back home. Coming home from Nashville last summer we stopped at Murray and had it checked. Good for another 50 or 60 thousand miles.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
Most of the things I would say about the Hannigan conversion to my 2009 Venture have already been stated in this thread. I will add these thoughts.
The day I picked it up I really had no idea about riding a trike. My wife had a friend at work whose husband owned a HD Trike. I rode it about two blocks one day. I told Hannah (my wife), "Yep, I can do that". So we made arrangements to have the conversion done. Five weeks later it was ready on a Thursday morning. It only took 5 days for the build, but the paint matching and kit being built and shipped from Kentucky take up the other four weeks. We drove up (approx. 65-70 miles) and Randy gave us the walk around and point out everything tour of the trike. Kim and Randy were great BTW. I did a ride of about 300 feet up the street, turned it around and came back to the shop. I decided to take a less traveled but curvy road home. That was the scariest worst ride I have ever had on a motorcycle, because.....
1. I have been riding bikes since 1958. Sitting on the trike it looks just like it did before you widened that backend to the size of a White Freightliner! If you don't turn around and look back it still looks the same as before. However riding it is NOTHING like riding a two wheeler! You still want to roll that big boy over in the corners and it DON'T roll no more!! You are leaning your body like crazy and that trike is resisting everything you are doing to lean it into the curve.
2. My Venture was the first Hannigan/Venture conversion that Randy and his crew did. They did not get the speed sensor mounted correctly. I'm not faulting them by the way. Anything over about 15MPH was wildly inaccurate and most of the time the needle simply flopped from zero to somewhere around 35MPH. I was not a happy camper on the ride home I can tell you for sure. I thought to myself "This is a mistake, I've spent megabucks and I hate this thing". I was frankly scared silly in any corner at all. When we finally got home, my wife told me I was flying through those curves on Wears Valley, hwy 321 way faster than I should have been going. Funny I did not have that sensation of speed. I did some research on Venture Riders, found the speed sensor was probably set wrong, called Randy and he said to bring it back up the next day. It took about 5 minutes to correct. Apparently the speed sensor setting on the Venture is only about the thickness of a couple of cigarette papers! I rode it back home at a normal speed and it was considerably less frightening. ThumbUp Five days later Hannah and I did a four day ride with another couple down the Natchez Trace, into Louisiana and then back across Alabama and home to Rockwood. I was sold on the trike by that time.
3. If your trike is set up correctly, it will corner like it is on rails. Someone told me they corner like a Corvette. It simply follows the line and comes out the other end of the corner. We have a lot, and I mean a lot!! of famous roads in the east Tennessee area where we live. The Tail of the Dragon is probably the most famous. My Hannigan Venture stays glued to those corners. Once you get over the sensation that you are going to high side it on the corners and learn to trust its ability to hug the line through the curves you'll love it.
4. Now on another note, I'm not exactly a weenie on bikes but gravel roads and parking lots no longer cause stomach/butt clinching , also my creaky ole left knee stays on the running board at red lights and stop signs and that is a plus also. Have you ever noticed that you can ride for an hour, never see a vehicle but if you let that bike fall over there are always at least a couple of spectators available! :gah:
Hannah and I love our trike and our next ride (if we need to replace "Big Red") will be another trike for sure. Just my opinion but Hannigan should team with Yamaha/STAR and build OEM trikes.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I have a 2008 wing with a Hannigan and I love it. The color match is prefect and the ride is smooth. The only issue is you find you cant get enough riding lol.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
Everything everyone is saying is true. I remember when I started being serious about purchasing a trike with IRS. I researched, and researched and researched. What was important to me was, first the kit had to have IRS, second it had to be WELL MADE, third it had to be SIMPLE…not complicated with all kinds of do dads, it had to be reliable and last, it had to have style. I test drove almost every major make of Trike out there…..Hannigan, CSC, Motor Trike, Lehman, Road Smith, etc. I finally narrowed it down to three….of course Hannigan, CSC and Road Smith. All three had different designs and were well made. All three rode well and performed pretty much the same.
What made me decide on hannigan was the simplicity of the design and how beefy the kit was. It looked like it would last forever, and finally, the wife loved the WHALE FIN, (what ever the wife wants, the wife gets). Oh, I almost forgot….it had to be PEARL WHITE. After about a year of looking, I finally found one in the Atlanta area. It was a brand new trike conversion of a 2002 Gold Wing. Now lets get down to business regarding the handling of the kit. As yet (About 15,000 miles) I haven't been able to lift a wheel off the ground. There are times I really scare myself into thinking I'm going to kill myself but I had to find out what the trike could do.
Not too long ago I went riding in the back roads of Michigan. I was riding with two very, very good riders (2 wheels) who were dong their best to lose me and couldn't. We stopped at a stop sign, and one of them got off their bike and walked to me and said…"I WAS TRYING MY DAMNEDEST TO GET RID OF YOU AND KEPT LOOKING IN MY MIRROR AND SAID TO MYSELF, THAT DAMN WHITE BIKE IS STILL RIGHT THERE". I suppose that's when I realized I didn't have anything more to prove to myself. I've been to the DRAGON twice and I've disappointed I wasn't able to "LET IT ALL HANG OUT" because of slow pokes in front me. Well, that about sums it up. In my opinion….HANNIGAN IS THE BEST TRIKE KIT OUT THERE.

I have a 2005 Hannigan on my K1200LT BMW. I have a trailer (from Adventure Sports formerly of Golden, CO, now defunct) and it draws a crowd wherever we go. My wife and I have put 42,000 + miles on it since we had it installed on our brand new bike in 05. Even before we knew of the SCMC sanctioned 4 corners tour, we had created our own 4 corners tour. We live north of Denver, CO and went to Neah Bay, WA, then down the WA, OR, CA coast all the way to Imperial beach south of San Diego, CA. then home. Then for the east coast, we headed up thru NE, IL, NY, up thru Syracuse, on into Canada, across to Madawaska, ME. There's a special 4 corners tour memorial there sponsored by a Harley club I think. We only found out about it because we were one of the "random" full search victims at the border crossing and the Customs inspector mentioned it.
From there we headed down I-95 to Key West, FL and then home via MS and TX. Covered 12,800 miles in those two trips. First one took 18 days and the second 27 days. Obviously, we're retired and took our own sweet time. Actually, we visited with relatives in WA, OR, TX and friends in MS.
The Hannigan performed flawlessly except for the very first trip we ever made on it back in 05. This was prior to Hannigan upgrading the fuel pump for moving fuel from the spare tank to the front. The dealer here in CO (Monty Loftus) replaced it free of charge and has done all of the maintenance on it since installation.
My wife has a smooth ride (unlike the non-independent wheel suspension unit we rode prior to getting our trike), and is our photographer on our trips. Photos are always nice and sharp due to the smooth ride. There have been occasions where we never dismounted during our sight-seeing.
When pulling the trailer, I never even realize it's back there. We love our rig and plan on 100k before thinking about a trade. Hannigan, thanks for designing such a wonderful conversion. People think it came from the BMW factory it blends so well. Awesome!

I triked my Goldwing 2 years ago with a Hannigan conversion. The installer didn't do the job correctly and I had problems with it. I called Hannigan and explained the problem knowing that Hannigan hadn't done the conversion themselves. They said that if I was willing to drive my trike to them they would check it out and make any corrections for no cost. I went there. They corrected all the problems as promised. They also added things that should have been put on the trike since I had paid for them at no cost. I liked the conversion when I got it back and blamed myself for going to this installer instead of just going to Hannigan themselves for the work to be done first. I tried to save a few bucks. I now love everything about my trike but a big part of this was the backing of the company when I had big problems. Ride is very comfortable and the trike looks good. I talked to some other installers about the different manufactures of trikes conversions and most said that backing of the company was extremely important. I found out that was right.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I bought my 2009 Blue Goldwing Limited Edition with Audio, Comfort, Nav, XM Radio and Weather/Traffic as a 2-wheeler and rode it for about 9 months until my hip started hurting bad. I said I was going to quit riding or trike it. I studied all the available trike kits and decided Hannigan was the best because of the engineering with the straight through driveshaft, offset differential, wide wheel base, trailing arm suspension with progressive shocks, sway bar, and additional fuel tank, as well as the 4.5* raked front triple tree. I found Texas Trikewerx in Belton and Don fixed me up with a color matched Hannigan kit on my Goldwing that solved my hip problem and kept me riding now with 50,000 trouble free miles on it. Solid feel, never a sway or tilt problem, uses the available horsepower/torque to best advantage. Gives me 37 mpg on the highway, better at altitude in CO. I am happy with the Hannigan conversion and would recommend to anyone.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I'm not sure if there is anything more I can say about my '09RSV that hasn't already been said! It's wide wheelbase and IRS make it very stable and handle like a dream! I added the steer lite which does improve the steering effort. The only thing I wish I would have purchased at the time is the floorboards. I'm sure they will be added in the not too distant future though.
The trunk is HUGE and I'm pretty sure I ended up with more storage space than the 2 saddlebags that were lost! The styling of the Hannigan is excellent as well. It seems I can't go anywhere without several thumbs up and at least one person taking it's picture!
Overall the construction and engineering is well planned and of good quality! If you ever think of buying a Hannigan I encourage you to try one out for yourself, I think you will be convinced...

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
There are always concerns regarding converting from solo rides to trikes. I find that many of us have health issues and/or advancing age and refuse to stop riding. The Hannigan rig seems to push all the right buttons. Class, engineering excellence, quality of the product, and performance come initially to mind. I have owned sidehacks so the transition is less tramatic than some. My conversion was two years ago, at Murray, KY and for all the inconvience involved, I would do it again, in a heartbeat. The treatment I received was outstanding. I took a 19 day trip out west, this summer, pulling my Aspin camper, and couldn't have enjoyed it more. While no bike (solo, sidehack or trike) makes the ideal tug, the KLT Hannigan trike came as close to the ideal as anything in my 43 years and 380,000 + miles on motorcycles (over 300,000 on BMW's). I am particularly impressed by the IRS and how well the righ handles.
Two of my friends, after riding my rig, have converted their KLT's to Hannigan trikes. Both, independently, confided to me that they wish they'd had the conversion years earlier. High praise indeed.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I got my 2008 Honda Goldwing triked this past spring. I have a friend that has a Hannigan Trike and he is always bragging about it. As I was getting ready to retire I decided it was time to go from 2 wheels to 3 and I have not looked back. One of the best things I have done. The question is what do I like best the answer is everything. Randy at Excitement Equipment did my conversion and he nailed it perfect fit, ride, look, and service. He made sure I was comfortable and is aways ready with answers I might have. A friend asked what don't I like about it and truefully there is nothing I would change. Thanks

I had previously owned a Motor Trike w/ Independent suspension and found it was narrow and it didn't like high speed cornering and was hard for the Mrs. to get on and off due to the fenders surrounding her feet. I looked at all the different brands available...I found the Hannigan was the widest and best looking complete kit out there ...so the quest for my favorite color w/ spoiler and ground effects began. I made the purchase a little over a year ago and began to test its limits...WOW this thing really handles! With ez steer and new fork springs ,oil and fork brace I was off to the Tail of The Dagon! My friends ( on 2 wheels ) lead the way and I began to really see this kit would absolutely hold its own as my 2 wheeled friends soon found me at the front making passes and glued to the pavement! As they caught up to me an the Mrs. ( as we stopped at the top ) waiting to scream out with joy!
They could not believe it! They tried to keep the pace but failed. So as anyone would expect....Off for round 2 slay the beast one more time!.. LOL By far the best kit from my riding experience! Dragon tested tough ! Hannigan ROCKS!!!!! And the Mrs. loves it!

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I have a Harley Davidson 2004 Ultra Classic & i started to look around for a Trike in the early part of 2007. I compared all the different mfgs. & did the research in regards to straight axle suspension versus independent. I was fortunate to be able to go up to Americade & try out the different brands, and talk to the people one on one. After spending quite a bit of time with Dave & Ruth Anne from Hannigan Trikes I knew which way I was going to go. I've never regretted my decision to go with Hannigan Motorsports, everything about the Trike was great, like it has been stated before paint was matched perfect, fit of all components was superb, & the handling of Trike is just unbelievable, every time I ride the Trike it just brings a big smile out of me.
Everyone at the factory goes out of there way when they deal with you. Its nice to know, you have peace of mind that you can depend on the factory for support if a problem does arise. I'm not the only one that feels great about how my Trike looks as I've won a few awards for Best Trike. I guess the final statement would be my wifes approval on the matter as she has said she feels real safe on the trike & loves just sitting behind me on our adventures.
Hopefully she'll get better and will be able to resume getting back on the road with me...

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
WOW!! I can't say enough. I have a 2005 K1200LT BMW with a 2007 Hannigan conversion. I'll start with the design and engineering of the product which is second to none. Handles like no other and I've tried a lot of different conversions. Excellent design but no so complicated that I couldn't work on it myself if I wanted. As it turns out, I did a major disassembly, customization and reassembly after a major motor rebuild which was no fault of Hannigan. I did a few modifications I felt would improve the product like spraying LineX under the fenders, Trike body and where your feet rest on the floorboards. Made a big difference with road noise and a non slip area for my feet.
After my major customization, I arrived unannounced at the factory with a couple for fitment issues (I didn't quite get the body reinstalled properly).
The staff at Hannigan took "The Dragon" right in a spent over 6 hours realigning the body, floorboards then installing a new upgrade to the rake on the front end. At the end of the day, expecting some charges, the bill was $0, nada, not one thin dime. I can't say enough about Hannigan and their customer service. Top notch, everyone of them. Later the same year, I called asking about uneven tire wear on the rear and staff walked be through the alignment procedure. Again, Excellent customer service. I will not and have not hesitated in recommending Hannigan to my friends and motorcycling family. Fantastic product.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I am going to put a different twist on this thread about Hannigan. As a driver, and reading all the threads I can not add a single word that has not been already covered by other drivers, they have stated everything I needed to say.
So, we are going to cover the Hannigan kit from a passenger's view point. I spoke to Janice and she said the ride is excellent. Room to pack the " kitchen sink" is great. We have not put on the miles as some "iron butt riders" but we have gone 12 hours in the saddle as we traveled to the DC area from NH several times to visit relatives. We can not get over the fact that after 12 hours in the saddle we still feel like we can go and party, because the ride is so smooth and confie!
I am a believer that you can not get enough lights in the rear for night travel and Hannigan has that covered with the "Whale Tail" lighting.
You ask Janice and she will tell you, this trike is one of our best retirement investments we have ever made.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
We have a 2008 Royal Star Venture S converted by Coach Rice. They did a great job on the conversion.
First of all I'd say the handling, this thing corners like a corvette. The ride is very comfortable, even on less than perfect roads. When I need to do maintenance service on it, it's easy to work on, even removing the body is not major surgery. The adjustable coil-over shocks allow us to set it up for a soft, cushy ride, trailer towing duty or one up high performance cornering. Most of the time though, we leave it set to the middle ramp on the shock collar which gives it all around good balance between performance and ride quality.
We'd buy another in a heartbeat if needed.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
Yeah, what they all said.......Great conversion kit. Excellent quality.
My only change would be the trunk lid handle. I would prefer one that does not need the key every time to open. Not crazy about the T handles that are available though.

Take a look at the trunk handle I used, you may like it, Post #3 in this thread no need for a key everytime unless you lock it. CarbonOne used a different style that doesn't need a key to open.

:Agree: One of the 1st things the wife commented on was how smooth the ride was. The last time we were out riding she fell asleep in the back seat.

Janice falls asleep all the time, so you know the ride is very smooth.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I previously owned an older Gold Wing and decided to trike it. One day after I made the decision a friend at work told me of a Yamaha Venture/Hannigan for sale. I bought it on the spot and sold the two wheel goldwing. I loved the look of the Hannigan, the massive amount of storage, the great brakes, etc.
But I missed the performance, quiet running, and availability of aftermarket accessories of the Gold Wing. So I traded it for a Gold Wing with a TriKing conversion. I do love the Gold Wing part of it, now comes the but part of it. I miss the wide stance, the weight supporting running boards, wonderful rear disc brakes, and most important my wife misses the smooth ride of the Hannigan.
It is just a matter of time until I find a Gold Wing/Hannigan I can afford to trade up to.
Best way to describe my situation is, If I had not had a Hannigan before I would not know the real difference but I sure miss it. My hat is off to the Hannigan people who certainly know their business.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I have to agree with the rest great, great kit. At first I was a little leery of doing the conversion because of what I had seen around our area, but after the dealer let me test one out I have to say I was impressed. Took it to a parking lot and put it through some tests on turns then on to the road. Great handling trike and smooth ride. I plan on adding the bumper in the new year just wish they made a trunk handle to match.
The only issue that I have is the trunk lid, there is a couple of small pin marks looks like someone had taken a center punch to the inside, did not notice it at first but I guess I put it off too long as the dealer that had installed it was like a 5hr drive one way and it would have been more than two trips by the time all was said and done.
Would I buy another one ,you are dam right I would no question about it.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
Getting older really sucks but when I realized that my 2008 RS Venture was getting to be too much for me to handle anymore I turned to Crossroads Trikes here in Salt Lake City. I spoke with Ben and was able to set up a plan to have the MC converted. Since I live here and am retired I was also able to view the conversion every step of the way and document it in photo's. All of the folks at Crossroads were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable every step of the way. Even though I was probably a pain some(most?) of the time I was always welcome. I was able to observe the quality of material and components that were being installed on my new ride and was very pleased with everything I saw.
I picked up "Sweet Black Cherry" on 9-24-13 and was able to ride her until 12-1-13(only about 1000 miles), until the weather caught up with me. I found the ride to be everything that has been expressed here and so much more than I expected. I am looking forward to a full summer of riding in 2014 and many years beyond.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I just got my trike in Sept 4, 2013. I rode my bike down to Ky. to the Hannigan Plant to be Triked, and stay in hotel and wait until done. Went in twice a day and take picture of the bike. The guy were great, they did a good job. John and the crew are very friendly. The ride back to IL. was super, Bike rode like a dream, for the 456 miles ride . LOVE IT.

Re: What do you like about your Hannigan Trike?
I Love my HANNIGANS !! I bought a double wide sidecar in 1985, and I ran a body shop, so I was worried about the coler match. IT WAS PERFECT!! I now own a 1998 GW Tricar conversion, has 71,000 miles and I still LOVE it. Have won many trophies and it has been to Dragon twice. Ride, Handling,Quality, all are TOPS! Dave & Ruth Anne are awesome people who Shine at customer service.
All the posted comments are true, YOU CANNOT BEAT A HANNIGAN !!!!
Thanks, Dave & Ruth Anne!
