Restore is a great place. You NEVER know what you will find. Bought this drop forged steel C-clamp the same day for $2.50 (USA).

After reading the post about Tony Bose passing, I went back to Ebay to recheck out the knife I was looking at the other day. I picked it up before the price went up. Pix to follow when it arrives.
They are already out with a "Commemerative set" of three knives for $499. A few weeks ago they would have been under $99 each.

That's a 5". I meant to include that in the original post. It's going to replace the "imported" one I got to spread brake calipers that I think are made of lead. They twist when you put too much pressure on them.

2.50 for a USA made C clamp... heck yeah! :clapping:
On a side note, most of the Tony Bose collaboration knives I was looking at were high dollar, very nice, but expensive.
I wound up ordering the 2020 SHOT show exclusive with his signature and COA from Smokey Mountain Knife works the day of and now it's out of stock. It just shipped now, so I'm glad I got it when I did.
Glad you picked up one as well :clapping:

Well, I didn't get the signature or COA, but I like the knife. It's a Tribal Lock. Y'all know I'm a fan of lock backs.

Speaking of lock backs. Here's one I got in the big buy but never posted. It's a Sears Craftsman, made in Japan. Stainless steel blade. The previous owner added the thumb assist opener.

Nice job on the clean up. You spend a lot of time on them. Is that from 1920-30?

Pegged that correctly, manufactured in Fremont, OH between 1920 and early 30's .
It wasn't too bad on this one, I've had worse condition ones lol...
Preserving a little history, that's what I hope to do :)

It just looks like it would get in the way if it is a assist opener.

If I remember correctly it is indeed a thumb assist for one handed opening.
Bill might jump in here to confirm as it belonged to a good friend and bandmate of his

I hope this explains how it works. Not so great for me because I'm left handed.

So it does clear the end? Must be the photo then that makes it look like it would hit the end bolster or whatever the end caps are called. It must or they wouldn't sell any. Nifty idea.

It was a labor of love... actually turned out decent considering.
Did some research on the tang stamp, Simmons Boss- book of Goins dates it back to 1910. Ebony scales, half stops, steel liners and brass pins.
Not sure what happened with the bend in the liner, but it shall remain as not to risk cracking the wood.

-
You done did good.ThumbUp Yeah, if they could only talk, would interesting knowing what it was being used for to get the bend in it.

Randall, nice job on the clean up.
