What would you all recommend??
I want to wrap the exhaust, to help reduce heat on my right leg. My leg is stiff so I am closer to the exhaust... and the heat catches me in the back of the knee, and upper thigh.
Thanks for the help ThumbUp

I just went to my local Autozone (auto parts store) and bought some header tape. I dont remember the brand but it wasent very expensive and works well.
Can you re-install the chrome covers after putting the wrap on? I've seen bikes with the wrap and it wasn't a pretty picture. :)
What helped me alot was floorboard extenders and a "crotch cooler". All that for about $180. Makes a big difference. I remove the crotch cooler for winter riding - very easy - remove seat - lift coolers up and out. ThumbUp

Gary, the heat shields fit perfectly fine over the wrap.

DEI makes a Titanium wrap. I like it because I didn't have to soak it. DEI also makes a 1,500 degree silicone sealer as well. I got mine at O'Riley's Auto Parts.

No problem putting the chrome covers back on.
Anyone have or know of a picture of a TG with the wrap on and anyone seen the DEI Titanium wrap in person? I was wondering about the silver color, if it blended in well with the chrome pipes or really stuck out?

Uhhhhm, see my post above:D You should use the silicone sealer. It's black and makes the wrap disappear behind the shields.
I see accell sells a heat rap for motorcycles.

I used the titainium 50 ft roll from DEI .I found it on amazon for $30.00 plus shipping .no need to wet it but wear some gloves and long shirt.Wrap from the rear toward the front I lapped it at 3/4 " and had enough to do every thing that is covered by heat shields even the area of thecrossover next to the oil / tran.pan .I did the wrap with pipes still installed on the bike. take a little time but It does help with the heat issue.
Mine after two years. Still in very good shape.
The first 8-10 miles it smells horrible. Might even be something that's not good to breathe. After that, it's fine. Got my wrap from Drag and probably paid too much: $60.

iaff84, Thanks for posting the pics, the wraps look good. I might have to try some of the titanium wrap on my TG and see if it makes it cooler on the leg.

The bad part of seeing the pictures again is how good the paint looked a few years ago. I need to think about doing a good detail on this ride!

It has been two years ago that I did it so hard to remember how much it helped. All I can remember is it was allot better. At the time all I had done was cut the CAT out, wrapped pipe and changed slip ons.
I used Thermo Tec brand. Got a package of 2 inch wide by 50 foot and have allot left over if I wrap another set. I also got their spray on sealer. This wrap was Graphite black and you had to soak it before wrapping, let dry then coat. It seems to be holding up very well.
Hey Annie,
Did wrapping the pipe make a difference?
just wrapped my 2017 and cut the converter out . wow what a diff the wife almost could not bare the heat with jeans . now were riding with shorts unbelievable the diff
