Stupid Antenna Loss
Today I parked on the roof of a parking garage, facing the outside wall. I "flexed" my antenna and put it in the tour pack, as I have done many times. I went to work, came out an opened the box. SPROING!!! Out shoots the antenna, and I leaped forward to grab it-and saw it land on the top of a passing bus. I feel like an idiot. At least I didn't fall of the roof. My last stupid move was leaving my hearing aids in on a ride. At 75MPH I saw one of 'em bounce off my tank. Haven't worn the skid lid since-I gotta take 'em out to get the helmet on or it hurts.

Oh Fredward !!!
Do not be so hard on yourself.
We have all done things like this and felt so sheepish.
I keep forgetting to take my hearing aids out befor putting on the helmet and then just kick myself because of the LOUD noise and no way to turn them down or remove without pulling over, removing the sunglasses, gloves, helmet, jerking the d**n things out of my ears, securing them, and reversing order of putting things back together to get on the road....big PAIN!
I did have to giggle as I envisioned the antenna going over the side and landing on the bus! So glad YOU didn't go over with it! Thanks for sharing!

I keep my bike in a trailer for storage. Not long after I got it the antenna tip got broke off in the door, I was so mad till I found out a new antenna was only $20

Got the replacement "stubby" antenna from Amazon yesterday. Works pretty good in town, haven't hit the freeway yet though. Only about 6 inches long.

I got the (I think) 18" one that Harley sells for around $30, and I can't tell a difference from the original whip. It also fits in the tourpak without having to bend it.

As per the above, the cost of a replacement antenna is not expense. It happens.

I really don't understand why you remove it and put it in the tour pak? Is this a "theft" issue?

Did a tourpac relocation bracket yesterday, moved it back 3 inches. This morning looks like the door got another one ! Oh well needed a good reason to visit the Harley shop anyway....

Try the Stubby off Amazon. Works well for me, and is only 6 inches long.
