Viper Trunk Lid Leak
I have about 2K miles on the CSC Viper kit on my 2012 Goldwing. The trunk lid leaks water when washing the bike. The installer is sending me another gasket for the lid to place on top of the existing gasket. Off hand, it seems like the trunk will not close/lock if I add a second gasket. If anyone has had this problem, would appreciate your input on the fix.

i bet they want you to replace the current gasket not add to it

I questioned that advice and was told to install it on top of existing gasket. I'll make sure they are the same thickness before putting it on. If thicker than original, I'll remove it and install new one.

Call California Sidecar and at the prompt, select the tech support extension and when someone answers, ask for Will. He is a wealth of knowledge, a great communicator and can instruct you on how to proceed with the proper fix.

Thanks Papa Zook. I want to give the dealer's remedy a chance first with the second gasket. If it does not work CSC will get my call. Thanks for the input. I will keep Will's name handy.

I'd suggest you call Will first and then you will have the experts advice and a clean fix, but do whatever you want.

Trunk lid
Will is a world of knowledge Csc tech support is great I had issues with our trunk lid and worked at resetting it. It is tedious and takes a little bit of time.
Just make sure the margin gap is equal around the edges but put a thin towel on the lower end of trunk so the lid doesn’t scrape when adjusting also if you haven’t checked the gasket look for cracks or splits on it to see if it needs replacement. I would probably replace it if bad instead of putting one over the other
