rear end service?
As i take my old Harley out for its 6th season it has crossed my mind about rear end service?
I have the solid axle kit i installed in the spring of 2013 and it is grease filled.
I cant seem to remember if there is a service interval on that grease in the rear end and if their is please give me PROCEDURE for changing out, as well as lube amount, type, name etc.
I have had no trouble with it, I just honestly cant remember? :gah:
-
Looks like gear oil vs grease...
Nevermind, it was an indy vs solid I was looking at...
-
To the best of my recollection the belt drive champion straight axle filled with grease didn't really call for service unless a seal blew out or something?
Hard for me to accept?
Is there a champion tech out there?
-
I'm not familiar with the engineering of the Champion solid axles, but I envision a double pillow block assy. of some type that would likely need grease/lubrication periodically. Are there any zerk fittings on it?
If so, I'd try to repack the mechanical assembly with as much fresh grease that it will take.
Short of tearing it down to repack the parts with grease by hand, you might not have any other options?
6 years and however many miles is quite awhile to go without maintenance, (in my opinion only)...

That is correct. No service required unless it has leaked.

Paul, here is 1 of your old posts
It looks to me the rear end is factory packed with hard grease the same as garden tractors
