Rear Brake Rotors for 2012 Triglide
Is anyone familiar with an aftermarket Rear Rotor for the Harley Trikes. HD Rotors are $256.00 each. Doing research I find very similar rotors that fit older Mustangs and Mazdas. The rotor is a typical 4 lug Top Hat rotor. I find it hard to believe that Harley designed that rotor from scratch. I believe that they are for some previous Auto or something, just trying to find out what. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike

GREAT question Mike. Does anyone know? Could help us all down the road.

ThumbUpThey think they are gold plated.
Re: Rear Brake Rotors for 2012 Triglide
good question about rotors, but my question is how have you worn your rotors out so soon. maybe a little more front brake would help with rear wear.
Re: Rear Brake Rotors for 2012 Triglide
crap brakes..leaves no room to cut the rotors when grooved ..
Re: Rear Brake Rotors for 2012 Triglide
Yeah. I have a 2011 with 10k. Dealer says I need new brakes and rotors. I was surprised both at the cost and the wear.

I agree, there must me an aftermarket or automotive affordable replacement. Keep looking. Please.
Re: Rear Brake Rotors for 2012 Triglide
Guys, found some after market rotors. They are still not cheap but well under the $250 HD gets.
Take a look at these.

Both of those showing in the adds are front rotors not the rear. One add says rear, but they show front in the pix. BEWARE !!:Trike1:

I agree they like to say it is for the bike but in reality it is not..

When I purchased mine the price was for the pair of rotors.
I think HD changed the composite material in their rotors for 2013.
Last year a friend working in our fleet garage turned my original rotors because they had some serious grooves. They didn't turn as auto rotors would. The trimmings came out like steel wool. They were able to be turned within specs but not as smooth as you would expect. I still had plenty of braking after turning the rotors and installing the Lyndall pads.

Re: Rear Brake Rotors for 2012 Triglide
i just found this thread because i just bought a TG ....Has anyone found out EXACTLY what rotors from the Escorts or Fairmonts match ??? ... i am close enough to say it seems the circa 2000+ Ford Escorts are the same bolt pattern and diameter. if anyone has an old TG rotor, i made a diagram and need some measurements to verify as because since i just bought one, i have not yet pulled mine to measure, which i am willing to do as soon as i can. Its in storage beacuse its freakin winter here in Pittsburgh still ......... I am very close to matching them and will be glad to share... until then..... ....

Welcome to the forum. I will be pulling my rear rotors off in the next two weeks and be happy to map out the measurements. We all will benefit by finding a more reasonable ($$$) alternative. I'll get back in touch as soon as I have them removed.

The next question for the rotors:
Can you mount the '14/'15 rotors with the later bracket (ie '14/'15)for the caliper on the previous years? This would give better braking from the larger rotor.
If the automotive rotor is larger diameter maybe with the later caliper mounting bracket ??
I do know that DFT on their IRS kit for the TriGlide, is using a larger dia rotor with just a different bracket to mount the stock caliper. The only problem with that is they want $650 for rotors & brackets.

The mounting bracket on the axle is the same, caliper has changed and the mounting bracket for the caliper has changed. The newer caliper won't permit the use of the parking brake on an older TG. Not sure if the cost would be worth it, complete assembly with mounting bracket and brake pads is MSRP of $399 each.
