VW Wiring diagram
Can anyone help me out please, i am after a wiring diagram for a VW Trike. I know it will be based on a VW beetle but i'm wondering if there is a dedicated diagram for a trike.
Either way i have neither and desperately need one. My wiring not only has all the colours of the rainbow for wires but all the colours of the spectrum as well i think'

And maybe infrared and ultraviolet too?
What year or era is the engine/tranny/rear end? And does it have a generator or alternator currently?

It's a 1968 model

One of the easiest and most notable wiring diagrams that I have found is on TrikerDon's site here:

Another great site for ideas is on the Samba forums:

That is just a couple that I found in my saved internet sites.

I used one of these. It seemed easier to start from scratch than to modify the stock wiring. If I remember correctly it was for a dune buggy or sand rail. It was about $70 and it did make the wiring process easier. You can order these on line. :)

Best one I've seen is from Rat Race Productions . com It's Rate Race Trikes, I think in Az. They have a spot on their site that says simple wiring diagram. Click onit and run off a copy for free. They also sell a throttle cable that is long enough for a trike. They are good folks to deal with.
Thanks for your time

Gene Berg also always had simple wiring diagrams for VWs also...ThumbUp...I was gonna' post a LINK, but it said Their website was temporarily down for maintenance.....:(

Thanks for the diagram. I have drawn up one using Visio to suit my trike but I see yours has the hazard switch wiring in it.
I was not sure how that was wired in as yet so it's been a big help with that.
Just visited the link you posted, that is some website, will be taking a good look the on the laptop. Tablets okay but the eyes ain't wot they were 😊

I did not know how the hazarded switch was suppose to be wired so I came up with that.
it works good
Mine is done in Visio also

I am also toying with the idea of using LED for repeaters, one for each side. As LEDs pull bext to no amps they should not affect the flasher relay.
Visio is good for this, I have been trying to find stencils for auto diagrams but they appear to be as rare as rocking horse shite.

Thanks for those links about the wiring kits guys, but to get one shipped to the UK puts the price real high. Will look for this other guy Gene Berg, you never know.

I totally agree, that is an awesome wiring diagram Fowler!

Thanks
It took me a while to get the diagram correct I posted it a few times asking for people to check it over
After I was done wiring I still found a couple mistakes. I have a couple different wires marked with the same #
I designed 1 circuit at a time moving and adjusting them as I needed.
I wired the trike with all marine grade wire (wire that has been tinned) I also went up a gauge. For example if I figured a circuit called for 14ga wire I used 12 instead.
I may have went a little overboard with the wire gauge and the extra grounding but I learned back in my Army days that a faulty ground can cause a lot of issues.
SO I ran a thick copper ground wire from front to back and connected it to different points on the Trike.
I rewired my Ol'Lady's 79 MGB this way also

Yea i have come across that myself, not so much cockups but "oh i forgot that", like the main beam flasher on my switch that is not used at the moment.
Your right on bad earths as well, caused me some headaches in the past.
I will be going with multi core wire, single cores are available but from home elctrician suppliers.
In a perverse way i am looking forward to doing the rewire, to know that everything works and where it is. I will post my diagram next week, i want to make sure it looks right then others can say what about ....... you've missed.......
Better to find out before i do the job.

Below is my attempt at a wiring diagram. You will have to ignore the colours as i am colour blind (really). I have done it basically in circuits. My diagram is in A2 size which i plant to get printed then laminated

I'm no expert and I am sure there are many that know way more then I do on this subject.
But I see a few things on your diagram that I have questions/observations about.
The left front flasher seems to be connected to the wrong wire. I think it should go to the wire just below
The way you have the headlight, the main beam flasher and M beam indicator seems like it is going in circles (maybe I am reading it wrong)
I like to keep the horn circuit separate form anything else. You have it tied into the Oil (light) I personal would run the power to the horn and relay off 1 wire. I would make a jumper between 19 and 17 This way the same wire that is the pass through is also activating the relay. I did this and it works good. I did put a fuse between 19 and 17
Your license plate light is not connected
Got to get back to work
Will look at the starting circuit later

I am not certain how the headlight modulator is wired so you may be correct on that.
take a look at this
