2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
I got my hands on the first photos of the new 2012 Hannigan Trike. I'm told the trunk will be substantially larger and access will be much wider as the entire midsection width trunk lid will swing down for access. This is the pre-production prototype and there may be some very slight changes to include an updated restyle on the running boards with a possible addition of lighting on them. Very nice!

I'm a champion guy.. but, I have to admit the "H" ( Can't say the word ) Looks very sharp. They have really gone the extra mile with the BODY!
-
Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
I'll also stick with my Champion.
I just don't care for the new 2012 wing:Shrug:

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
That's a sharp looking machine. The rear looks something like a Batman motorcycle. Thanks for posting those pictures

I am not a big fan of the 2012 honda either.. though I ride one as a trike. I just took a second look at the "H" 2012... The body does not really match the top box.. take a second closer look I think you'll see what I mean.:drama:

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
N I C E :):):):).
I wonder if they are going to change the body style for earlier years??

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Mitzie loves this Trike...!!!....I likes lots of it, and a coupla' pieces I don't....will probably "grow" on me though. My Buddy Mike Hilton has a new White 2012 Gold Wing 2-Wheeler that I rode. I was impressed with the suspension changes and the Color Scheme.....just something about that rear light set-up I can't quite get a "warm-n-fuzzy" feel for yet....ThumbUp

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Not fussy on it also. Might look different when viewed in person. At least nobody can say it looks like all the other trike kits. Roger

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
I think adding one of the matching black factory lighted spoilers on the top trunk would tie in the look very nicely as would the Euro lights pictured below. I like it and have a feeling their phone is gonna be ringing off the hook with orders. Variety is a good thing. ThumbUp

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
If I was in the market for a new trike I would certainly give this one a hard looking at.
-
Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
I guess I'm the lone wolf on this one. IMO it's about the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Seems they forgot the Victory emblem on the trunk.
-
Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
A spoiler under the trunk??????????????????

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Hey ... isn't that really the motorbike version of Maximus Prime (and as your grandkids can tell you ........ the leader of the Decepticons) soon to be coming to a big screen near you, in the next edition of the Transformers movie?!?! ;)
IMHO: Hannigan nailed the styling of the 2012's rear end, to a T (which is not 'my' cup of T) but still ........ they matched it very well.
I agree with Zook, it needs the tour pack's lighted whale-tail, and Euro lights added to keep it from looking so ......... schizophrenic.
I suppose if you like the 2012's looks, you will probably like the new Hannigan.
I'd like to see one in the wild before adopting my final position (and although I'm not a big fan, I do think the 2012 GL looks much better in the flesh than it does in pictures).
But WRT this new Hannigan, so far the word ........ "Yuck!!" ......... comes to mind.

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Well here goes.
I don't have any irons in this fire, don't ride any conversion or any form of 2 wheeler, but I firmly believe that Hannigan has done a wonderful job on this offering, my only question is do the tail/brake lites during the day and night.
Nice work hannigan!

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Seen it up close in Atlanta yesterday...it does have the WOW factor..talked to Andrew Hannigan and he said it had just came from paint to the show...we talked about their websight and he said they were going to be working on it also...the trike really needs to be seen in person...when I walked up on it at first I thought it came from Honda...unlike Motortrike making a spoiler out of the GWs rear tailight Hannigan puts it in the kit itself...the fenders remind you of the GW bags and the lights in them have a great custom look...hats off to ya Hannigan..you can take a well deserved bow...

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Good now if they would put these on their web site, there may be some more interest in this area. With no info available things have been going in the competition direction :)

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
I was at the Atlanta Motorcycle Show Saturday and the Hannigan folks were there showcasing the new look. I must admit it's pretty sharp!

"WOW" is not the word that comes to my mind....But some people are drooling over it right now.

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Its funny, both Hannigan and I have both had tons of excitement and praise for the new design via PM, emails and phone calls, with folks practically fighting over claim of the first production numbers, but its seems some folks tend to not want to buck the trend on the message boards so they say nothing in praise publicly. Thats a shame as I think Hannigan did an amazing job on this design. I met with Randy, Hannigan's chief body designer about this time last year when work was just beginning on the new design. Everyone involved in this project agreed that the 2012 should be a fresh new look that would compliment the restyled 2012 GL1800 and not just a cookie cutter copy of previous styles. Dave, Ruth Anne and Andrew have never been afraid to be innovators (think Tri-Car, V-Rod, Sidecars & Whale Tails) and have produced some amazing and very unique designs and have always backed them up with world class quality.
I agree that Hannigan has nailed the styling with the new 2012 GL1800s to a T and obviously some like the new 2012 Goldwings and some dont. But either way the fact is the new '12 Goldwings are flying out of the showrooms as fast as Honda can build them, so you might as well get used to the new look because Mother Honda isn't going to un-modernize the new GL-1800. The 2010 and down is a design that, though beautiful, is eleven years old and is dated. Its a classic and will always be in demand, but an update was more than due.
Personlly I like the new 2012 Gold Wing, the only thing I think Honda screwed up on was not matching the tour pack with the new design. Hanningan!! I think you nailled the design, now all is needed is a redesigned tour pack. You got a winner!!!
Oh I forgot to ask Zook!!! What does the trunk look like,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,?
The prototype has not had the trunk opening cut out yet as they wanted to show it in Atlanta this past weekend, but it looks like it will be
almost 1 1/2 times as large as the current trunk, wont know the exact size until its constructed. That was one of the major considerations of the new design.

That'll be a very large trunk, which is a great thing.
FWIW, I think the new styling is very attractive. I can't wait to see one.

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Geez... I really like the new Gold Wing - its looks and colors - just not the price.
I'm glad a trike company has finally come up with a unique look. Seems to me that there are several out there that look very similar to each other. This one kind-of reminds me of a Darth Vader mask - but not in a bad way....maybe its the black on this trike that pops that image. I'd like to see it in that gorgeous red and silver to match the '12 Gold Wing.

Zook
What is the flare on the Aqua Shield near where highway boards would normally mount ? Is is a built in highway board or a built in air dam? just curious If air dam then where would you put highway board

Its more of an air dam but theres plenty of clearance for highway pegs or boards. Im told this is getting tweaked to better mirror the lines of the new side grill on the bike.

Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
Just came back from the factory in Murray to look at the new 2012. I did not really like the way it looked in the pictures, but I was really impressed with seeing it in person. It is super nice, and am anxious to see it in different colors.
-
Re: 2012 Hannigan GL1800 Trike Photos
When I saw the pictures of the 2012 Hannigan trike I was not at all impressed and was leaning toward the Viper. I made a trip last Friday to Murray to look at the 2012 prototype in person. Wow I was impressed. It looks totally different in person and is very sharp. Those at the factory were very helpful and answered all my questions, they were working on the bike but let me look at it in the shop. I am anxious to see it in other colors. If you were not impressed with the pictures, don't judge it until you see it in person.

No you have me all wrong...The new proto type was what I hoping to see on the Rider mag but it was not...It said the new 2012 GW trike kit but it was not the prototype we are raving about...I did see it in person at the Atlanta Motorcycle show...It may have been a goof on someones part since you went to Murray and all was good with the new kit...

Note that the running board forward accent panels have been
reworked to match the lines of the new 2012 grill openings.

WOW! That whole set-up really "flows"! Hannigan has really knocked themselves out with the design of it.
