Bridgestone tire question
What's the difference between the Battlax BT-20 and the BT-45?
I'm currently running a Metzeler 880 on the front of my BMW LT trike, but am looking at the BS for my next tire change.
Both look to be bias-ply (recommended for the LT), rear bike tires (ergo more tread) and should give better mileage on this crown scrubbing trike monster.
Any opinions out there?

Can't help with a BT-20, but I have a BT-45 on my GL1500 with about 7,000 miles on it so far. To the eye (I didn't really measure anything) it looks like it did when I installed it a few months back. Very pleased so far. Mine is mounted in the "regular" forward position, but many folks will tell you to mount it "reversed". I have no argument either way. Good luck with you next tire change. ThumbUp
Re: Bridgestone tire question
Motorcycle SuperStore says the BT-020 is a radial tire. Don't think you want to use it on the trike front. Way too much roll in the corners. It would handle very poorly and ware out quickly.
Re: Bridgestone tire question
Good call Gold Rush. I see that the BT-20 radial is an OEM replacement for the LT years 2005 to 2008.
Since my 2009 LT spec is front tire bias-ply I guess the BT-45 is the right choice.
Thanks for the heads up.
Re: Bridgestone tire question
For me, the differenced between the MPA & the BT-45 is about 13K miles.
I ran a MPA w/ dyna beads, mounted in reverse rotation, and got 30K miles before changing it out for a BT-45, which was wore out at 17K miles.
Both tires were inflated to 41# and ridden over the exact same type of highways.
Just my experience. I am a satisfied MPA customer from here on out!

Re: Bridgestone tire question
Interesting , my MPA on a 1800 wing wore out in 14k miles ran 41psi forward rotation. Cupped badly on one side ? :xzqxz:
Re: Bridgestone tire question
When I bought my 01 gl 1800 in August 2011 it had the Bridgestone on it. Lasted about 17000. I'm on my second MPA first one lasted 24000. Have about 11000 on second one. I think the Bridgestone might ride a little better (not that much difference) but the MPA gets more mileage and is a Little less expensive. Either one will cup if u don't keep air pressure right. Just my opinion
