Hi, What IRS rearend housing did you use. I would like to build a IRS trike. The IRS ride is a far better ride than the solid axle ride as you know. I am going to have to hit some wrecking yards to see what cars use a IRS rearend. Also I have found a trike body it looks like a Leham. The bike I am going to use is a Yamaha Royal Star Venture. Thanks for any info, Glenn
This is the thing in building. I recently bought a place in laconia NH and am relocating there in the middle of bike world. the trike has a 4.3 chevy V6 with a turbo 350 trans with lockup converter, narrowed ford ranger rear. It will be done by bike week if money and ambition hold out lol
Where are the V8's at??????
Reaper
These are four I have built in my little 20x24 foot garage / machine shop. All home crafted from start to end.
1995 ST1100 which was a "junk" title bike. I did this one in 2009 just after a test ride on a Can-Am Spyder. I called it the Stealth11. I put over 25,000 miles on this one.
The second is a 99 Valkyrie Interstate which had hit a deer. I still have this one and it has been redone as my 4th conversion using a new concept and design. This bike has 140k plus on the clock and 36k on the conversions
My 3rd was the 2001 goldwing which I rode to sturgis last year and have over 127,000 miles on this one. (only 11k on the conversion as I did this one last winter)

great thread!! some really talented fabricators out there !
I have a great admiration for the hours it takes to do this kind of project.
This trike has a Chevy 4.3 V-6, Turbo 400, Ford 8.8 rearend with 3:55 gears, Harley Road King frontend, We call it Chariot of Fire.
I have posted before and after rebuild.
This is my beetle trike. Some mid build pics and the finished article.

Cool Dennis. I didnt know you had that trike?
been working on it for the last 8 to 10 years ,flat black parts too be painted dark blue
I am pretty excited knowing that tomorrow I should be able to be on the road. Finally. I started this project on New years day 2009. With a limited budget I knew it would be slow, but I have been taking far too long on this trike. Electrical and other issues almost made me give up, but I would just ignore it for 6 months and come back to it after I forgot what the problem even was. Anyway I still need to drive a few miles and then build a body to cover the mechanics. But here it is so far..... Top pic. shows where I am now, and bottom is what I started with.
My first homemade was also back in 2009 just after my first Spyder test ride.

and now it's no longer a hobby but a business, on my 3rd sporttrike for this year so far
