Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
I know it was suggested this year and turned down, but I would really like to see sign up sheets for each ride. I know you don't want the number of trikes to be too long so I suggest a cap on each group. Make it 8 trikes or whatever number you want. If it exceeds that amount break it into 2 or 3 groups depending on how many people want to go. They could leave in 15 or 30 minute intervals. We ride alone all the time and one of the benefits I was hoping for was to be able to ride with 6 or 7 trikes. It's always nice to meet new people. Also, maybe someone could talk to Carina and see if she could include the route numbers or street names online to go along with the maps. I found it very difficult to follow the maps because the lines were drawn directly over the route numbers. All in all we had a terrific time and met some great people. Looking forward to next year.

Brian, it wasn't that we turned down the idea - we did consider and discuss it, but we couldn't find a way to make it work well for this year. As Rosy said, the problem is finding people to lead.
Consider this - we had 69 people registered this year, a number of them riding solo, so a conservative estimate puts that at about 35 trikes/bikes. Assuming 10% of those didn't want to join a group ride, we still would have had about 32 trikes/bikes to plan for. Even if we limited each group to 8, that means we would have needed 4 lead riders, all of whom would have to be comfortable leading that size group. The smaller the group, the more leads we need; the larger the group, the more difficult it becomes. Few attended from the area, so whoever was lead would have needed to be able to learn the route quickly, have the map in front of them, or have a gps. So in short, before we can consider a sign-up for group rides, we need to have a sign-up for leads.
Please be assured that we welcome everyone's thoughts and suggestions, and we do consider them all, even if we don't end up acting on it!! Also, this particular topic isn't dead in the water - we consider and discuss this every year, along with everything else that needs to be planned, and we will do so again over the next few months. We want to make these gatherings a great experience for everyone who takes the time to join us!
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
We rode with Doug V and yes the smaller group did work out very well. We missed turns, but no one really minded. We changed our route a few times did not matter we still had a great time and some laughs.
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
I lead 3 rides last year.
1) was to eat in Farmington, Wooden Tap
We had 6 trikes. Not too bad.
2) the following morning we had 10 and went to breakfast. We left breakfast. Rode about 45
Up into Mass. Was a little tricky and we knew
Some of the area. A slight error is Catastrophic
3) Sat ride was 17 trikes. 10 miles into the ride
We were getting urgent request to stop for bathroom
Breaks. At one time I was down to 20 MPH on
45 MPH road. It was next to ridiculous. Stopped For gas and took 20 min. Stopped again for a sandbox break and it was another 45 min. Last stop in Kent and we all got split up.
No on knew when we were leaving. Could not find all 35 people.
In conclusion IMHO 5 is good 10 is Max
On our ride home we had 5. Smooth ride.
Maybe not a sign up sheet. Maybe a looking for a group to ride with sheet. People that want to ride can sign up and leave there cell number. If your group only has 2 or 3 you can call a person on the list.
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
this year groups were formed out of the blue, some one came up with a destination and everyone interested in going there spoke up and said they'll go. One would do a lookup on how to go and off they went. No need for designated leaders, the groups decide on where to go, how to go, and who's in the group, when to leave, all on the fly. And everyone has expressed how much they enjoyed things, I'm for leaving the rides that way.

If you compared GGI maps with the state maps I had for the taking you could have the rte. ###'s in question. VT. is kind of easy state to get around cause there are not a lot of rtes. and they are not on top of each other.
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
Well here goes; I did have fun and enjoyed meeting and hanging out with new friends. But for my money I would recommend staying in a town/city that would give you more motel choices at better prices. The people at GGI were very nice, but I didn't think that either the GGI or Big Bear were worth the $115 per night (total). I don't mean to step on any toes here but, I do think locking yourself into a ski motel area really limits you choices for staying and eating. After all, we were gone most of the days and didn't really get to appreciate the country charm of the area. I know a lot went into finding the place and if I had only been staying the night and moving to another location, I probably would have said; nice place, let's look at staying here !!

Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
I look at it this way, $115 - $30 for breakfast for Janice and I = $85. Free Coffee most of the time
Like the idea everybody had a common area to go to and visit with each other, inside and outside.

this place fits our needs fine, the common room is a great plus. now if the weather person would warm things up a little it would be super.
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
I agree when you put the price of breakfast. More like $6.00 a head (+ tip and tax ) Still $115 - $15 $100 a night is not a bad price. If we get up to 100 /120 people we are going to be spread out.
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
Where in heaven's name can you get breakfast for $6 a head? All the places around here are $28+ tax and gratudity.

Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
Across my house. 2 eggs over easy with home fries. $5.99
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
My breakfast at GGI every morning was eggs, French toast or pancake, slice bacon and sausage, coffee, and juice. That's going to cost more then $6 anywhere I go for breakfast.
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
I'm agreeing with you. You can't compare Super 8 at $90 with what we had there. You can eat a $15.00 breakfast. ( 2 for $30.00) I did not complain about the price. Heck I paid $225 for one night. I had 2 eggs over easy home fries and toast & coffee Honey had one pancake and bacon & coffee. That is what we get for breakfast where ever we go. I am sure there were others that ate $20 or even $25.00 each.
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
John, that's great, please tell the people who owns the resturant, the people who live in NH would love to have him here. I am coming over to your eatery to have breakfast, sounds great!
At those prices, the whole town of Dover will be there!
We must live in a high rent district, juice $2+ a glass! coffee about $2..omelet $9 WOW!
Thanks John, now I will dream of a cheap breakfast at your place.

Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
Not much better here Rosy. Went to breakfast this morning - ham & cheese omelette, bacon, and coffee - $11.99. Good thing the food is good! LOL
Re: Suggestions for the 2015 NETT Rally
I'm tired off all this snow back home, when I leave Myrtle Beach, I'm heading to John's place for breakfast. Just checked out the new Polaris trike, chevy powered & it moves right along. I know someone in Ma. who will be clearing out the Stables to fit this in..........
