Going from Bike to Trike
Just sold my Kawasaki VN2000 and am looking to move to a trike. There's a 2007 Electra Glide Ultra Classic Tri Glide I really like that's for sale (18K miles for $17K). It has the 96ci motor and 6 speed tranny. As I'm used to a monster motor...anyone think I'll be starving for power on this trike?
Thanks

Hello & :welcome: to Trike Talk, glad to have U with Us. :clapping:
It should have sufficient power. Will the seller let you take it for a test ride?

Norm…Welcome to Trike Talk..👍👍…Power is in the seat of the beholder….Me’ I had a Triglide with the 103 motor (2011)…And stock it wasn’t powerful enough for me…Will the 96 be enough for you…Take it for a test ride to be sure it’s right for you..??

Unfortunately, the owner will not allow me to take the trike for a ride beyond a trip around the block. I ride with my wife 90% of the time and need to be able to do interstate speeds (75 in my area).

welcome Norm. I think the price is a little high. 15K would obviously be better. The 96 can be given a set of cams and a good tune with a good intake and provide you with enough power. If still not enough S & S sells increase displacement packages that you might like.

Hi Norm, :welcome:to Trike Talk
The 96 is a good engine, but IMO it needs some help to make better power
Parts are plentiful to make that happen

Welcome to the forum. I will tell you that a properly tuned 96” with l8me a Andrews 48H cam will outperform a 103. It will about equal a 103HO which will be in. 14 or newer. I have upgraded my 07 Electra Glide to a 103HO and it was a good change …I have a tuner but the motor is stock .. in my Tri Glide I have a 103HO with a power commander 5. I has plenty of power. I think the 96” will pull you and your passenger anywhere you want to go but in my opinion. I would rather have more displacement or motor work…. do you have a good Indy shop? Look into what it would cost for a Andrews 48h , a power commander 5 to be installed..
or up your budget a bit and look for a 14 up. You will also like the overall components like comms and radio.

I'll need to do a little research to figure out what you're recommending above...like I said...Harley is new to me. I also get what you're saying about upping the budget. If I get to the $25K range...a whole lot of advantages open up.
