Should I get additional Insurance?

Hello,

The dealer is quoting me a two year extension for insurance and tire protection.
It is around 1255.00

Is it worth spending the money?

What do most of you do?

Most people will tell you no, get a shop manual and do all the repairs yourself. That's fine if you have the time, place and tools to do that - most don't. :Shrug:

I have had a 7 year policy on my last 3 bikes. The first two had enough problems to pay for it.
I just bought a Tri Glide and from things I've heard about them I transfered the extension to it. At my age and shakey job outlook, it gives me piece of mind. I also bought my dealers service plan that saves me $800 over the cost of all the scheduled maintainences for 10k plus a free tire and brake pads. :D

So now if I get laid off I can still ride my bike without any worries - at least for 3 to 7 years. ThumbUp

If you haven't already bought the extended service plan call Jim Palmer at Kutter HD in Wisconsin. I just added 3 years to my factory warranty on my Road King. That includes wheel and tire for 1191.00 and no tax. Best price I could find anywhere!

I think each dealer has a different service plan, check with yours = some may include a free loaner, free pickup, get ahead of the line, free wash, etc.

I will check when I get home, but I think I payed around $1395 for an additional 5 years(7 total). I went without the wheel and tire part which gave me an additional year of standard coverage. I have never had a wheel problem and don't think I will in the future (fingers crossed)so that's why I declined that coverage. I am more interested in overall coverage then a wheel/tire.:D

If you have not finalized your deal with the dealer, ask for it in the deal. I did and got the 5 year extended and wheel/tire protection. I'm female and don't plan on working on it myself. The extended plan does not cost the dealer anything, they make pure profit on the plans. If they want your sale then they will come down on the price. Ask for the brochure on the plans, it will tell you everything you need to know.

Whatever you do shop around, deals on extended warranty can be had.

yes u should.these are expensive not trouble free bikes.a small service job will cost more then the insurance

p.s. make sure u have selected a thoughtfull thorough dealer to buy and use your insurance benefits.that may be a different dealer then u bought the bike from.

I have the H-D servive plan so it's the same coverage at any H-D dealer. I would not buy anything from a third party company.

I've used mine at a couple different dealers and a dealer in Canada.
