Custom Dynamics
Thanks for posting pics John.
I'm just looking for a light assembly to put on the back of the trunk below the lock.
No bears please. I would never be able to keep that with grandkids/Great grandkids.
Not good at this picture crap! Here is a pic of what should work for you! Brake Strobe LED Knight Riderz Light Bar
It's $29.95 it is 4.5"L x 0.7" W x 0.7" H
They have other types listed, I had a 7.5 in Knight Riderz light bar with the crazy dot moving back and forth for tail light and 4 strobe and then full on brake! One hole for wire and 3m stick it on in place of the reflect on the trunk!
Use a heat gun or good blow dryer and the stick on harley comes right off; may need a little goo gone for a clean job!
Check em out search knight riderz on their sight this one in pic used to come longer; i didn't see it!
Sorry no pic's trike is totaled and gone!
Dave

Can't believe I didn't catch this thread before. My bad.
Here's your Knight Riderz in action. Made a bracket and mounted under the rack lip.

Sorry it took so long. I had to put the bike back in the shop to get some paint corrected. You can see the Radiantz LED bar in the recess of the trunk. It functions as running, brake and turns. It is plenty bright.

I like the fenders and the light relocation. Very nice installation. I will explore that option for my trike as well as I have a similar challenge with my fenders.
Did you have to do anything special with the electrics or was it a direct swap. Like I said in an earlier post, a lot of what is needed on the new bikes/trikes is new to me.
Was an electric load balancer needed? What approach did you take to tie in to the wire harness (i.e What's it look like inside the trunk?).

PS.... Do you have any details/pics of your fenders and the assembly process as they were going on. You took a very sanitary way of integrating/attaching them to the body. I'd like to learn more about how you did that

There is an extra circuit you have to buy from Radiantz that allows the running, brake, turn combo. We couldn't get the stock harness to function properly... so, did away with it and everything worked fine.

MDO
I read your post and decided I needed a center running/brake light. I decided on the Custom Dynamics LB03. It has a low for the running light and a hi flashing brake light. I was going to install it where the red reflector is under the trunk latch but decided I wanted it higher. I'm mounting it with a tee bracket on the seat screw. I found a brake light feed the 7A plug. I'm stuck for the moment because I can't get the pin blank out of the number 4 pin hole on 7B. If anyone can help me with that I would appreciate it. I don't want to force it and damage the plug.
Once I get the wire install into the plug I'll be able to finish it and add a picture.

Try a paper clip
We never bought the tool made by Thexton;)

Rick, I'm having the same problem after mounting a LB01 light bar on my luggage rack. Think I will use posi-taps for the power and ground to the frame.
-
Yeah. I tried pushing them out from the front. Pushing them out from the back. I'm wondering if they are a one shot use. I was trying to keep the rear light circuits on the 7B connector but it will be a week or so before I can get a new connector. I thought about using Posi Taps too. If I do it will be done tomorrow. I'm going to have to use them or solder tap wires for the ground and running light so I will probably just go with a third one for the brakes.
Thanks for letting me know it wasn't just me.
-
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it. I got more movement pushing it towards the front than the rear. Never got it out.

This is what I did
Thanks MDO. Once again I am using your ideas to make my trike better. First the Sylvania LED tail lights. Now a center running/brake light.
As I said in an other post I went with the Custom Dynamics LB03. They call it Non-Sequential/Flashing Brake.
I thought about putting it where the reflector is under the trunk latch but decided I wanted it higher. I used a tee bracket and mounted it to the seat screw. I used Posi Taps to connect it and it made it very easy. Here are some photos. It's actually brighter than the pictures show.

Thanks for posting pics. I like the way it looks, but I can't do that.
I have the luggage rack & when I travel long distance, I have a bag on the rack.
That sure would make it easy to wire with the plugs being right there under the seat.

My '17 has a small access panel on the top left back of the trunk. May be for an OEM trunk light. It goes right to were the rear light cable is. The Custom Dynamic lights come with a 36" pig tail. Looks like it is a little short for going from the reflector under the latch to where the cable is but wouldn't take much to add a little. I would put some shrink tubing on the wire where it comes through the trunk and up to the top of the trunk liner. Then some split loom around the top of the trunk. I would use adhesive tie wrap mounts around the top of the trunk. A grommet through the access panel and a little silicone would make it waterproof .
That's the way I would put the Custom Dynamic light where the reflector is. For what it's worth.
-
What access panel are you referring to?
-
Really clean install, Rick. That looks great.
