Glad I wear a helmet
Tuesday was my last day traveling on my seven day trip to the AF Museum in Dayton and I hit a bird. This was not a small bird it was a Ruff Grouse. I was on I-75,between Grayling and Gaylord, doing 75mph when it came over the windshield and hit my face shield in front of my left eye. I pulled over and three cars pulled over to see if I was alright. All I had were some scratches on the face shield in front of my left eye. My helmet is a 3/4 with a face shield and i wont be leaving home without it.

Wow, your angel was riding with you that morning!

You never know what's gonna fly up and bite you, Face shields do more than just keep the wind outa your eyes....ThumbUp...

Could of been a different story if you were on a two wheeler !

Wow!! You lucked out. I have a friend the hit an owl and he didn't fair as well. It put him in the hospital. Shattered his face shield. Knocked him out which then cause a wreck. I worry some about buzzards that wait to the last second to move. Glad you are okay.ThumbUp

Glad you survived that one ok. I am amazed that other motorists pulled over to check on you...nice to hear that they did. I would hang that face shield up in the garage as a memento.

The AF Museum is awesome, I hope you enjoyed it in spite of the current restrictions. Thank God you were wearing a helmet with a face shield. I had no clue what a Ruff Grouse was until a few minutes ago.

WOW, you are lucky. Damn birds come out of nowhere, you can never predict what they will do

I would say those that pulled over were my generation "old folks"

AF Museum was great would recommend it to everyone. It was sad seeing people walking around like Zombies not talking, the parking lot was less than half filled all three days people are scared.

Wow Robert, glad you came out of the encounter OK, yep, I'd hang that face shield up somewhere.

Many years ago my Brother-in -Law was driving to meet me in his car and a duck committed suicide by hitting his windshield and the supporting post on the drivers side. Shattered the windshield and put a pretty good dent in the post. They can be nasty. Glad you were OK..... Jim

I know the feeling. In 2017 I had a Spruce Grouse run out in front of me in British Columbia. Back and forth he went, and then, as if he decided life wasn't worth living, he ran into my front wheel. He came tumbling past me on the left side minus his head. He chose poorly! I was on two wheels and thank God I stayed that way.

Once while I was riding my Sv 650 a red tail hawk come up from my right side and his talons scraped over the top of my helmet….😳..

Scariest flying object that that I encountered was a tire tread, from a semi that I was passing on I-10 one summer. Ruined a windshield on my Road King, put a serious hickey on my 3/4 helmet, and lucky me; I didn’t go down.

If you ride a motorcycle long enough, all kinds of scenarios are gonna come up to try to knock you off and most times it comes up so quick there’s very little time to react…. proper gear is your best defense…..And sometimes that isn’t enough..😳..
