Appendix Surgery Complications

Last Friday my oldest daughter (20) started having abdominal pains. Ended up in the ER that evening and had her appendix removed on Saturday morning, then released on Sunday. Last night she started having severe pain again, so back to the ER at 4am this morning. She has been is great pain all day while they have been doing xrays and a CT scan. As of this afternoon, still no definitive answers on what is causing the issues, but she has enduring pain and prodding all day long. Prayers appreciated!!!

Had something similar happen many years ago. Appendicitis was diagnosed in the ER, but the surgeon wanted another look... found a large kidney stone lodged in the tube, that happened to be over the hip bone area & didn't show up on x-ray very well. Still had surgery, but for the stone.

Appendix operation isn't a simple matter. It's very risky. I was about 12 when mine ruptured. They said I died on the table. I do feel like I had a near death experience as I believe I was asked if I was ready but I said no, I'm too young. Guess I'm still making bad choices.:Shrug:Prayers sent your way.:Angel:

Sorry I never updated this thread... it turned out she had a bowel obstruction post-surgery which caused an infection. Fortunately the obstruction cleared itself without having to do a second surgery, but she was in the hospital for 3 days getting the infection under control.

All is well now... she was accepted into a doctorate program (Psychology) at Kent State with a scholarship to boot... proud parents!
