Grand Canyon
We are planning to ride to Las Vegas and will stop by the Grand Canyon and take a helicopter tour. Does anyone have any suggestions on tour company and which tour to take? Also, places to stay which are fairly close to the GC.

After Vegas, we plan to ride through Utah into Colorado and spend a few days on the western slope, then head to Denver on our way back to Florida.

Grateful for any thoughts/suggestions.

Re: Grand Canyon
If you are into camping, then that's the way to go at the canyon. Supermarket and plenty of food available right there.

Suggest looking at William AZ for lodging, it is not far from from the Grand Canyon. If you going to the South Rim you will pass through Williams. They have a fun train ride there that will take you to the canyon.

As far as scenic ride is concerned I can't help you there. We live in Prescott Valley just an easy morning's ride south of Williams.

I thought the helicopter tours start in LAS VEGAS, not at the Grand Canyon.

Re: Grand Canyon
I think you can arange them in Flagstaff too. Call the chamber of commerce in either Williams or Flagstaff, they will be able to help you out.

Re: Grand Canyon
Been a while since we took a helicopter into the Grand Canyon. Recall the air strip was not far from the canyon rim. Thought it was so cool. We flew over low scrub brush, and all of a sudden, the floor dropped out. We were one mile above the canyon floor. Pilot made some maneuvers up and over rock formations. It was really exciting.

Another fun thing we did is hired a Native American to drive us down into the canyon on Indian land. Got to take a dip in the Colorado River as rafters cruised by. Water felt great because it was 100*F down there.
