Should I be able to start my 2017 Tri Glide while it is in gear with the clutch pulled in?
I have read the manual and it doesn't recommend it, but leads me to believe it should start and I have not been able to without putting it in neutral.
May be a safety thing but is a pain should you kill it a light or somewhere else.

Yes you can as long as you pull in the clutch lever and apply pressure to the back brake. It will start.

I have to depress front brake lever to start in gear. When I tried the foot pedal I got nothing but a dirty look. It is difficult to look like Joe Cool when you are sitting in an intersection on a stalled Trike. :D

I also use clutch & front brake lever to start in gear.. Never tried with foot pedal.. have to check it out
Front or back... works the same! Pick your poison.
Always start it that way when I get on after stopping for gas or food or killing it at a stop Light.
Duh!!!
Seems the simplest things are the hardest to learn.

I never had any problems starting the bike this way.
