Good to have you here Mark
It sounds like you are indeed a biker
Not sure where to post a general "thank you", but figured this might be the place? Anyway, I have been involved in motorcycling since I was 16. I'm 63 now so that is 47 years now. Have owned ridden just about every kind and brand of bike there is over the years...first street bike was a '71 Suzuki TJ500, last one before my new Tri Glide was a 2014 Indian Chief. Tons of Harleys, Triumphs, Hondas, Yamahas, at least five Indians (the ones from Springfield, not Gilroy, North Carolina, or Polaris...the old ones), and I've built a couple of bitza bikes of various manufacture. I've wrecked, broken bones, destroyed bikes (all in my youth thankfully) and ridden hard with some pretty rough fellows at times. The reason I list all this is to establish that I am indeed a "biker", "motorcyclist", "devotee", whatever you want to call one who worships at the altar of motorcycles.
Having said all this, I still need help and advice from time to time, especially on newer bikes. I don't pretend to understand computer chips, EFI systems, digital displays, etc. Give me a bike with a carb, chain drive and cables and I'll get it running. The last site I was on, the first question I posted was shot down as stupid, laughed at, and ridiculed by well over half of the people responding. In point of fact, most of the motorcycle related sites I have been a member of have pretty much reacted the same way, not only to me, but to most questions or comments. It was with this "history" I joined this site a couple of weeks ago.
So I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who has given me input on my questions in the most friendly, reasonable and responsive way I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I am not naive enough to believe that at least one or two folks on here can't be "difficult" at times, but my experience here so far has exceeded my expectations and made me generally very happy...for what that may be worth...lol. So gentlemen and ladies, I thank you. Looking forward to getting to meet and know some of you this Sept. in Maggie Valley. I'll be the old fat guy on a red and silver Tri Glide trying to look cool.

Thank you Mark for the kind words. Randy (Papa Zook) the owner of this site will be thrilled to read them. I've been with Randy on this site since around a year after he set it up. He stated from the very beginning that this is a friendly site. Bashing is NOT allowed. Polite differences are okay and encouraged. We have allowed friendly exchanges until it gets personal then we stop it.
Mark may I suggest that you consider joining the Gold Members group. There are a few advantages but mostly it is there to support this forum. Randy is a regular guy like most of us on this site. He spends a lot of his personal money to keep it going. And like most of us he lives from pay check to pay check. Really he has a small conversion business that he run just outside of Houston. See ad CUT-N-SHOOT CUSTOMS. We appreciate your consideration of this.
Thank you and hope all others consider this also. You would not believe what it costs to run this place and I for one want to see it around.

Ted -
I think this is a forum that is worth supporting. It sounds like Randy does a great job of moderating and like I said, so many forums seem to just run amok. I would be happy to join the Gold Members Group and I appreciate the invitation to do so. I will get it done before the end of the day. Leaving for the Harley dealership here in Roanoke right now. The Commonwealth of Virginia sent me the title to my new 2019 Tri Glide even though their is still a small lien on it...so being the honest, forthright guy I am, on my way there now to take it to their sales team. Thanks again, Mark
Mark. we are having a gathering in Maggie Valley NC. Check out the threads here on the Maggie Valley get together. It's a good time and lots of riding in the Smoky Mountains and surrounding area. Hope you can make it.
Like in School there's only one stupid question here ... the one you don't ask ... Glad to have you as a member

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
Mark, looking forward to meeting you in Maggie Valley. This is without doubt the best 3 wheeled forum on the planet thanks to Papa Zook, the moderators, and the people that partake of it.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting...Holy Sh!t What a ride!
Ruby I agree with you 100%. I recently joined another site and was dissed right off for asking a simple question. Now I remember why I didn't join that site years ago. I did get one civil response. The other site I belong to keeps it friendly too. Oh well, I guess riding since the 70's makes me too mature?
