Sturgis 2015, 75th Rally

I hope that doesn't mean your not going to the 75th?

I wish there were anti gouging laws to put a stop to the greed.

I wish the greedy A Holes would realize that they would make more money if they would stop the obscene gouging! I know that every rally I have gone to, I have not bought many thing I wanted because I didn't want to feed the A Hole gougers!

Au contraire!
The greedy assholes have found out they can charge that much, that's why they do it!

Look into staying in Wyoming, Newcastle (good food and lodging)is just 60 miles away from Sturgis along one of the pretty highways.
8 miles up the road toward Sturgis is The flying V. (castle of the black Hills) lodging.
They have a huge area behind the place they let campers stay for free when I lived in the area.
8 miles up the road from that is Mallo Camp Motel ( 40 Miles from Sturgis) you will have to ride 4 miles down a well maintained highway (no big deal used to take my Harley two wheeler in and out of there because I lived there) turn in at four corners, Wyoming, rooms and community kitchens, community sitting areas. You may even swing a deal to take all 6 rooms on one side of the hotel with a family kitchen or take the ten rooms on the other side and use the commercial kitchen. Clean, peaceful, located in the pines, or try state campgrounds located further up the canyon on beaver creek right across the south Dakota border. You may even get a room at the four corners Inn on the Highway but I doubt that?

Nah ... say it isn't so

Its a fair question, I know the hills like the back of my hand And all the places you were warned to stay away from!

I would be careful riding with Pcombe,
he might lead you astray:laugh:

You know too much about me Wolfy!.

Are you going to try and make it this year Pcombe?

If so, I would sure like to join up with ya somewhere and make the journey together man. :clapping:

To be honest I usually head in some other direction during Sturgis week Stinger.

I lived in the Hills and attended so many rallies over the years and witnessed the changes in attitude that it no longer interests me.

Sturgis used to be about bikers and having fun with bikes and the rally and races and it's become too touristy for me.
To many folks who trailer their bikes and unload them at the edge of town and buy a shirt saying they rode theirs?
It's no where near what it used to be.

The whole idea behind going to Sturgis was to try and hit a new low every year and with all the gangs of cops patrolling the streets and all the jerks trying to see how many DUI's they issue in one week (bonus check for the top cop) You cant even unwind anymore?

Last time attended the rally I noticed if it wasn't the same half naked girls I seen in the 70's they must have sent their mothers in their places.

Don't get me wrong, everyone should visit the zoo once a year but I no longer want to sleep with the animals.

That's why I suggest staying on the Wyoming side of the border where you can find reasonable rates Good food and step away from the hub-bubb. there are mom and pop places as well as bigger places to stay.

Newcastle, Wyoming is only an hour away from the zoo and the highway to and from is gorgeous. Just remember if the speed limit sign says 45 mph they really mean 30 mph. Ice box canyon is aptly named and I don't care what anyone says the entire hills may be hot in the day but it gets cold at night in August.

I can relate to what your saying 100% Pcombe!!! Only reason I am going to try and make it this year is for the wife. She has never been to one and I want her to see what its all about. :p

Have a pal here in Cheyenne that has 5 acres in the black hills between New Castle and Custer so camping is no problem. I really want to be able to go on the T.O.U.R. ride this year.

There is a thread on the forum called alternative to Sturgis about a trike rally in Deadwood July 16-19 that might be more up my alley!

I have info on a flyer and there are smaller places in Deadwood with better rates than the big casino.
P.m. me and I will post it.

Sorry! Amend this to say well maintained gravel road.

Has anyone heard anything regarding the T.O.U.R. gathering?
Latest thing I heard, from the people at SeeThruBraz, was there wasn't going to be a T.O.U.R ride this year because police thought it would be dangerous trying to escort that many trikes.

Did hear that Leaman was having a ride to Devils Tower but don't know what day.

??????

Hey Texan,

Why don't you give Lehman a call to see if they have a date and time set for their ride to Devil's Tower? As I have announced earlier, I planned on coordinating our TT/TOI Meet/Ride event with the T.O.U.R., but unfortunately Jim, at Roadsmith. informed me, that there was not going to be a ride, because of the shear numbers of bikers that are expected to attend this years Sturgis Rally. If Lehman thinks differently, I will strongly considered coordinating our event with theirs. For everyone's information, I have not gotten any word yet when Roadsmith, in conjunction with the Buffalo Chip, are planning their Meet and Greet get-together for trikers, during the Rally.

Sturgis 2015 TT/TOI Meet/Ride event

I was hoping to coordinate this event with that of Roadsmith's T.O.U.R. and/or Lehman/Champion's Triker Tuesday, during the Sturgis Rally. I called Roadsmith and was told that they were not going to have a ride this year due to the shear numbers of bikers/trikers that are expected to attend the Rally, their 75th anniversay. The Sturgis police and sheriff departments will not be able to extend the needed manpower to provide traffic control for the ride, therefore it has become a safety issue for Roadsmith. I was told that they still are planning a meet/get-together during the Rally, but the details are still yet to be announced. I also called Lehman/Champion and was told that they are not going to have a ride representing their Triker Tuesday event during the Rally, I'm assuming essentially for the same reason. Whether they intend to have a meet/get-together in appreciation for the trikers that attend the Rally, is not known. Since both Roadsmith and Lehman/Champion are sponsors of this forum, hopefully either or both will read my post and make known their intentions with details. I decided not to wait any longer for their participation or input to make my announcement, even though the Sturgis Rally is slightly less than 2 months away. I'd rather make mine a bit early than too late so that those that are planning on attending the Rally have ample time to schedule and plan their activities during the Rally. Hope to see you there... Ride Safe!!!

To all past and present T.O.U.R. Riders:

First of all thank you for joining us and making the TOUR event a very special occasion the past two years during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Many of you have been inquiring as to if there will be another Trike Owner’s United Ride this year; Unfortunately, due to the expected levels of traffic and congestion on the roads for the 75[SUP]th[/SUP] Anniversary, we’ve decided not to host the annual ride this year. Over the past months we’ve been working on developing an alternative event to still celebrate three-wheel riders, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to announce the first ever Black Hills Photo Hunt!

We have teamed up with the Sturgis Buffalo Chip yet again for this one of a kind T.O.U.R. (Trike Owners United Riders) event during the 75[SUP]th[/SUP] Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This fun and interactive hunt will take trikers to destinations all over the Black Hills, seeking out all the cool and crazy the rally has to offer. Participants, using a Black Hills focused list of people, places, or things (found on Roadsmith’s Facebook page), will hunt down and photograph themselves and/or their trike as proof of discovery with the object in the picture. Photographs need to be uploaded to Roadsmith’s Facebook page to qualify.

Prizes will be awarded to riders who locate the most things on the list. A catered reception will take place at the Crossroads area of the Buffalo Chip on Wednesday August 5[SUP]th[/SUP] from 3-5pm to announce the winners and to celebrate the camaraderie of three-wheel riders. Trike riders can get more detailed information and register at www.buffalochip.com (registration is not up as of today but will be shortly).

You can also read more about how to participate and the rules on our website at this link here

Hope to see you at the rally!

Best Regards,
