Blue Ridge Parkway: need daily mileage advice

About 2 weeks ago a friend of mine and I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville down to Cherokee which is roughly 80 miles. We took our time and viewed the sights on the way down. It took us right at 6 hours but was one of the most enjoyable rides I've ever had because of the beautiful scenery. We made stops all the way down whenever we saw something interesting.JuJu, I hope this will help you in making your decision in riding the BRP.

Thanks, oldman! Yes, your input is very helpful--I appreciate any input I can get.

You know how it is when you're just planning a trip and you get stars in your eyes regarding how far you can go and how much you can do, and sometimes what you're seeing is more imagination than reality? That's me all over. :wow::wow::wow:

So it helps to come here and get a big dose of reality from all my TT friends!

I was looking at the first two links for about an hour this morning. We're trying to plan a trip on the BRP for a weekend in June if it ever quits raining!! I've got cataract surgery scheduled for the 31st of May on my right eye and after that I'm good to go if we can find a dog sitter. Thinking about running I-77 down to Fancy Gap and riding the BRP from there to Cherokee. Hoping to make it happen at the same time as the Rally so we can meet some of the fine folks here!!

You should definitely try to schedule your trip for the time of the rally, Greydog. It just gets better every year. We're riding up to Maggie Valley for the rally, then starting our trip up the BRP right from there. Hope to see you in Maggie!

If your going north check out a great little "Motorcycle Inn" called Station's Inn at exit 248 on the parkway. We stayed there a few years back and had a great time. Nice food and full of memorabilia in the restaurant, the owner is a real bike nut so take a look and stay a night. Very low rates and nice but small period perfect rooms from the 50's decor. We liked it . Another fav. spot was the co-op on the parkway it was beautiful and soooooo many great gifts available most hand made in the area. We are also coming back the entire length of the blue ridge and skyline drive on the way home. I'm staying unit the Wednesday after the rally and then taking my time going north back to Delaware. I don't have to be back until the 5th of July. Look me up at the rally Green and silver Valkyrie Interstate two wheel not yet triked. She says Teddy Bear on the trunk. I'm 6'6" and bald as a new babies arse. LOL If ya want call me when ya get in we will be there from the 20th on , we rented a house. 1-302-750-3139 cell #.
