I had 10" bars put on today. I had them on my "15 Ultra Classic and loved them. Rode a little bit with them today an they still feel like they are about an inch too far away:-( Still better than what I had. If I moved them closer it would lower them and put hand grips at a different angle so I will probably leave them be.

Instaled mud flaps on my new 2020 TG. I put the Kuryakyn mud flaps on my 2018 and while I really liked them I thought I'd do something a little different this time. Learned about Frank's Leather Products on this forum and most impressed in that they are a small business, in the USA, and offer excellent customer service. Frank was a wealth of knowledge and helped me in my decision of what style flaps I wanted. I like 'em.

[QUOTE=DK Custom Products;732999]The Target Tune made a pretty significant improvement over a good standard auto tune on my Sportster....but I've never felt the need to get that extra on the Tri Glide. Well, it would be nice, but never felt it was worth it, but that's just me. If one was looking to eek out every bit they could, it is the way to go. HERE are more details on it. Gotta have the wide band bungs in the header too.

My road glide champion kit had a S&S 124 super side winder that was 131 ft pds of torque my 2020 tri glide stock might be 90 ft pds it is a dog, not trying to get eek out every last drop trying to get some balls out of it, a target tune may get me 5 more ft pds of torque . the best you no is the best you have ever had .I'm going to try a screaming eagle stage 3 more compression 498 cam gutted cat arliness big sucker air cleaner bassani megaphone muffler screaming eagle tuner & auto tune maybe get 115 ft pds of torque ? that's my thought

    From Frank's website:

NO DRILLING OF YOUR FENDERS IS REQUIRED FOR MY MUD FLAPS. Mud Flaps are held on with an amazing Hook and Loop System manufactured by Velcro USA. It is some of the best Hook and Loop in the World. I don’t know of any store where you can buy it. It was originally designed for use by The Aviation and Aerospace Industry and is a “Special Order” item. Velcro USA won’t even start up their machines to make this stuff for an order of less than 1,500 meters (about one mile) in length.

As you may guess, it’s fairly expensive but I special order it from a business acquaintance in Texas, who makes purchases for corporations working in The Aviation and Aerospace Industry. A 100% Polyester Adhesive Backed Hook Strip is attached under the lower edge of the fender. The Polyester Hook Strip is 100% Waterproof. It won’t creep or shrink and its’ operating temperature is minus 45 degrees (-45) to plus 185 degrees (+185) Fahrenheit.

The Loop Strip is sewn onto the Mud Flap with heavy-duty Thread. Opening and closing strength is rated at 500 openings. A customer (a retired Mechanical Engineer) tested a set of my Mud Flaps on his heavily modified Indian Chief at Willow Springs Raceway and at speeds up to 135 miles per hour – they performed flawlessly. I have customers (and myself) who have ran these Hook and Loop attached Mud Flaps on their bikes for over a hundred thousand miles.

I run them on the front of every bike I’ve owned for the last twenty years because they keep all the stuff thrown up by the front tire out of my engine compartment. They will work great to keep stuff out of your radiator or oil cooler, if your bike has one. Holding strength of this Hook and Loop is measured at 15.45 pounds per square inch, measured on a vertical shear and for example, an Indian Chief takes 31-inches of one-inch Velcro Hook around the inside bottom edge of the rear fender. According to Velcro USA, that’s 478.95 pounds holding strength for a Mud Flap that only weighs about two-pounds. Try them, you won’t regret them.

Yesterday I did get a chance to remove the Zumo in preparation for putting the Dash Mount back on. I'm trying to clean up the cock pit area. It does look cleaner.

I took the trike for a ride and did do some of the roads that actually "weren't there on the 2014 maps". As hoped, the new maps actually show a road ... LOL. Guess the update was successful.

Oil relocator and cooler is supposed to be here today ... weather is taking a turn towards the famed rain/snow showers so might not get installed right away. Gonna go to the dealer today and get a quart of redline and a new oil filter. I'm ready, now if the weather would cooperate. Guess I shouldn't complain, it is February in Colorado ... LOL ... just feel so good I want to get this stuff done and be "all set" for Kerrville.

Yep ... and maybe by then, I'll have the rest of the stuff installed ...

The oil cooler and filter relocator came today ... not sure it's gonna fit ...

The two Allen screws under the passenger board might be in the way ... when I get a chance I'll take the bracket out and see if it will fit ... we'll see ... I really hope so.

Default Kuryakyn Lower Cover Storage Bags

I have been looking for a "safe" place to store the credit card and some other small stuff on the Tri when I go on longer trips. Maybe stick the phone in, or some gum. I like having the tour pak empty for jacket and maybe gloves ... around here you leave the house it's like 60's, you can't go far and it's mountains and 40's, then you come out of the mountains and its into the 70-80's. Good to have a safe spot to store the jacket. When I say safe, I don't mean from theft, I mean from falling off the trike. I don't like strapping things down to it.

Anyway. I was looking on amazon awhile back for "forgive me" gifts for the Tri ... LOL ... and stumbled on the Kuryakyn Lower cover Bags. When they arrived, I kind of forgot about them and this morning around 5 stumbled on them again. Went out and popped the covers off and brought them into the house to mount the bags.

I don't know if it's my little fat fingers, or that those fat fingers have arthritis, but, I had a heck of a time getting them on ... LOL. They are a challenge. My biggest concern was that I'd tear the vinyl trying to stretch it over the plastic HD covers. Finally got them on each cover.

Here is them from the front.

Here is them from the back, you can see the straps, there is velcro that holds the straps tight. I'm gonna let them stay on for a day and then tighten the straps before I put them back on the trike.

There is a net on the inside back that stretches so you can keep small stuff contained. I think it's gonna be a great spot to put the credit card. There is one of these nets on both sides. The doors or flaps are held closed with magnets that hold it pretty well. You can just see the magnets sewn in the vinyl in this pic of the nets.

I plan on going out in a bit, putting them back on the trike when it gets a tad warmer. Maybe tomorrow. I will post pics when I do.

Magnets against a credit card? Would that be anything like magnets against a cassette tape?

I accidentally ruined several cassette tapes I had very carefully recorded specific songs onto from old records - LOVED those tapes ... then .... I put them inside a magnetic tank bag on the bike.. very bad idea.... TOAST!

The magnets would be a good 2-3" away ... I always put it in one of those RF sleeves ... should be fine.

    Default Bags Mounted

It's been raining since noon yesterday ... so haven't done much ... about 7 am this morning, I did get a small break, and did go out and mount the bags on covers on the lowers.

Didn't do a right open, it's the same. I did however also mount my Ciro Dash mount back on the dash.

Yep, everything is relative. With your previous 124 you had some fantastic power. Building out your stock 2020 M8 will take a bit to get it to where you want. Going with the SE Stage 3 will almost assuredly leave you disappointed still.

If it were me, I would go with the following 3 things. I believe they will get you to where you were, and beyond (if you want), be less expensive and much happier in the long run.

    1. Get a good foundation with a True Stage I, plus cooling benefits (which produce more power and better reliability). Check out this LINK to see what I'm talking about. (A AN BS is not the way to go, it will only have to be modified or it will hold back performance and create tune instability)

    2. I would contact Fuel Moto. Here's their LINK. Talk to Jamie, tell him what you have, that Kevin at DK Custom referred you, and that you are on Trike Talk Forum. They have many different levels of kits that will get you the power you are accustomed to. Much better bang for your buck than the screamin seagull stuff.

    3. If the warranty is important to you, contact Jim Palmer at this LINK. He has a warranty program that can take the place of the Factory warranty on new bikes. It far exceeds the ridiculous Limited warranty that HD has been serving up since 2017.

Interested to see how it all turns out for you, regardless what direction you go.
