Being a member for many years ,but not a paid one. I dont get any notices to any of my threads I start. Funny how I get notices to a thread I unsubscribed to last year and they keep on coming. I mentioned at the end of another thread that I started about this issue and noone said anything. Im beginning to wonder if half the times the lights are on but nobodys home here.

Wow............Kinna heavy with the lights out comment.......

Lots have changed since 2008 I’m sure. Being here since 2015 , things have changed , security , forum expenses plus much more for Randy and Loveley Marge, by the way runs a tight ship with a great crew with out commercials. The members support this forum and appreciate all that Randy does to keep it as family. Trikers are the outcast in the biker world , but the best dam people on three wheels that can keep up with the two wheelers.

Hi Mick,

I also have been a member of this group since 2008. As far as I know there are NO paid members here overseeing the operation. I even pay the Gold Club dues. There is only one person that has administrative control of this site, the owner Randy. No one else can go in and see what your setting are set at to see if you would get notices of your threads. Have you sent a "PM" to Randy with your inquiry?

Mentioning something at the end of a thread does not mean he will see it. Randy and the moderators mostly scan posts looking for postings that are inappropriate or making a issue with another member. There is NOT anyone on here looking for issues that may crop up. If there is a problem a member should "PM" PAPA ZOOK and advise him. And being that Randy runs a full time business he does not monitor the site 24/7.

Randy started this site as a way for trikers to share information. This is a hobby for us all. Almost ALL members use the site for FREE. The Gold Club was established to help offset some of the costs that Randy pays out of pocket to keep this site going. Since the on slot of hackers etc expensive software including maintenance fees of that software have been installed to keep this site running. There have been changes to the way the software runs and for the most part all of us have been self taught to keep up with the minor changes.

Bottom line this site is a free site for people that ride and love trikes to exchange information. All are encourage to join the Gold Club to help make sure the site stays up and running. There is NO ONE overseeing the operation on a day to day bases. NO ONE is being paid here to spot issues. Randy and the moderator get on the site for a hour or two each day maybe to see if postings are staying within the conservative way that we want this to run.

Any programming issues need to be "PM" to Randy. He will address them when he can.

I hope this helps explain to all what is going on here.

Mick I hope this answers your question as to how this forum operates.

Hmmm, don't see many, if any, grumbles on this form. which is a laid back forum. Ya see a comment that stokes your interest, you respond, otherwise.....The mods are easy going and don't give you grief unless you are way out of bounds of decency. Not sure why you're not getting acknowledgement of your post 'cause I never had that problem, so not sure what's happening there. Since you have 541 comments, assume you know it's necessary to 'subscribe'. Hang in, you might find something you 'like' here on TT.

Randy and his wife are good people contact him I'm sure he can help with the issues your having. "Trike Talk" is in my thinking one of... if not the best trike related forum in the world now. Nice to hear from you. :good: Fred

If you go to the first line of links over the blue line that has date and time of the thread post, on the first post, there is a link called thread tools. That's where you subscribe to threads. I even have to subscribe to threads I start.

In my case, for some reason, the notifications go to something called my control panel. To be honest, I'm not savvy enough to know how to use that .. LOL. And that might be the issue. I have to unsubscribe to a thread, then re subscribe to the thread to get the option to get a notification via email. There may be another way to do that, but, I'm not smart enough to figure it out.

As for getting notifications to threads from last year, you can turn that off. A little personal responsibility goes a long way. You have the tools to turn on and turn off notifications. Rather than casting dispersions, maybe use them.

well I just find it odd that threads I start I never get notifications for and if I have to sign up to be notified then theres something wrong with the IT guy who came up with that. But to get notifications from a thread I was watching that I unsubscribed to last year makes me wonder whats going on here.

Im the Who & the What

And the lights ARE on. You should try running your own forum bud, it would be a real eye opener.

A few of the 20K + members here cant be pleased no matter what and for that reason the auto email subscriptions have been limited or disabled due to the thread's original poster loosing interest in the thread and eventually blocking and reporting the subscribed thread auto emails they receive as spam, rather than taking the time to just log in to the forum and unsubscribe from their thread. This is why auto subscriptions have been turned off or limited, to stop this.

Having our site's IP address being reported as a email spam site has resulted in entire email networks blacklisting our site's emails, causing any other forum members who might happen to be on that email server's network to also stop receiving our emails en masse and causing us to have send letters of appeal to each network that has blacklisted us, in order to try to get reinstated as a safe email sender, which is very annoying and time consuming.

I get multiple un-deliverable email subscription email reports from our own email server every day stating who each intended recipient was and the reason their email bounced (was not delivered) and a fair percentage of them are due to being reported and blocked as spam from the recipient (the thread subscriber) and its a real PITA!

This is a screenshot from today:

rsz_mail_-_randall_johnston_-_outlook_2.jpg

This is the type of message contained in almost every one of these emails and is from multiple different networks. I covered up the recipient's email address who had reported the mail as spam and blocked us.

There is no quick and easy fix for this thanks to those reporting the emails as spam.

So simply clicking on subscribe or unsubscribe to follow or unfollow a thread is too much work?

Now I get it, makes perfect sense. This IT guy thinks you dont need to be a member here if thats the case.

Obviously its very frustrating trying to keep everything working perfectly and everyone happy. We do not have the resources the billion dollar mega forum companies do, but we do our best and pay considerable money to paid contractors to help us keep things going as it should. Marge and I do very much appreciate the support and encouragement of the majority of our members who make this site what it is.

Paid or unpaid membership has no bearing whatsoever on thread subscription notices.

Below are the threads that you are subscribed to. There is no way you are getting email notices for any thread you are not subscribed to. Of the seven threads you are subscribed to, your notifications are not enabled on any but one thread, and that is the "One Of A Kind" thread in which an instant email notification is selected. I'm sure that is the thread you are getting instant email notifications for. If you want notifications for any others you have to select the thread and select if you want instant, daily or weekly email notifications, or notification via a PM to your inbox. Yes, for some its apparently a lot of effort to click a box and hit save, but thats the price you will have to pay for that feature.

Guys, please do your part to learn the basics of how to use the forum settings before you rake me over the coals. This forum is free for the vast majority of members and is still alive and operating thanks to a LOT of hard work from me, Marge and a small handful of amazing supporting Gold Club Members, and an ever decreasing number of sponsors and a few very dedicated unpaid volunteer moderators.

I've been on other forums, and although this one isn't what most people would call perfect, all I'd like to say is to echo my Lord,

"Let he among you who is without sin, Cast the first stone".

Personally ... with the exception of the moderator trainee
, I think the site runs pretty smoothly ... And thank Randy and Marge's tireless efforts to keep this site the place 99% of us love to be part of.

Have you tried re posting in your threads to bump it up to the top?

You can view ALL threads you started AND respond to in your control panel, or My Posts at the top of the page here

Thanks, sorry for the rant. A PM will get a better response than a public flogging will. I tend to respond with the same tone I get hit with...not the best way to address these sort of issues and I always have regrets when I do.

My apologies.
Not necessary Im very much like you I believe with being cooped up like most of us are sometimes we don't think well before we start typing. I am very careful to proof read everything i'm sure this is all cleared up. Good Work Admin...Fred
