DK Customs 1.5" Deluxe Tank Lift Question

I received my tank lift yesterday in the mail and was going to install it this weekend as it is supposed to rain all weekend. The potential issue is that I filled up the tank after my last ride. My original thought was to do the lift after my next ride to mostly empty the tank but the weather forecast really put the kibosh on that.

My question is this: has anyone installed a 1.5" lift with a full fuel tank? I am a little concerned doing it.

Thanks,

John

If you’re worried about the weight of the gasoline proximately 6 pounds per gallon you can use a cheap hand squeeze ball siphon to empty the tank..

Lighten the load

I did a 1 1/2 inch tank lift on my 2020 TG with the deluxe kit and the tank was 1/2 full. Pretty awkward working with the heavy tank. It can be done though. Then I remove the 1 1/2 in lift kit and installed the 1 inch tank lift kit. That time I did it with an empty tank and it was sooooo much easier. I can be done with a full tank but probably not as much fun.

It is a bit harder with a full tank, but nothing to terribly difficult. If you watch the video below, you will see that there is no point where you need to be holding the tank up with your hands. The towel or foam should be doing the majority of the work.

Seriously, if you want to get the fuel out just use a siphon. I have one that I carry. It has a black squeeze bulb with several feet of 1/4" clear plastic tube on each end. Only cost a few bucks at the auto parts store. Comes in handy more than you would think and no chance of creating any kind of ignition spark. My emergency fuel transfer system consists of the siphon and a gallon freezer bag...... Jim

Why did you change from 1 1/2 in lift to 1 inch lift?

Thanks
