Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii

After much thought and ambivlance, I switched from 2 wheels to 3. Been riding all my life, with the last few years on an '01 HD Softail set up for cruising with my wife on the back. I love 2 wheels and I never thought I'd end up on a trike, but then, I'm sure most of us never thought we'd get old either. ;) Because of cancer treatments, I don't have the strength I did, so packing my wife on a two wheeler would be too risky anymore. But, we love to ride together so I just traded in the Softail for a 2012 Tri Glide. Gonna be different for sure but this way we can continue to enjoy riding together. It's in my garage as I write but I still haven't laid eyes on it yet since I have a couple of days left here in the hospital for the latest chemo. Can't wait to get home and fire that baby up!!

Welcome and congrats on the '12 TG. Give yourself 500 miles and you will feel right at home of 3 wheels. I was all set to tell you to take 50 laps around the island, but after looking at a map realize 2 laps would pretty much do it. Stupid map.:Joker3:

Welcome BigIslandBoy! Sorry to hear of your bad news. Will pray for you, and I'm sure you will be out on that new Tri Glide real soon. Life certainly catches up with all of us......
Jeannette and I took a cruise to Hawaii in December. This was our fourth visit. We love it there! Attached are a few pics from around Hilo.
Best wishes!

Leo, mahalo for your good wishes. I still got plenty of fight left in me and look forward to many great miles on the new TG. My co pilot Sandy is flying up here to Honolulu tonight so we can fly home tomorrow. She's bringing the TG owner's manual so I can get a head start! :)

Love your pictures! Akaka Falls makes a great little side trip when touring the Hamakua coast. I hope the weather cooperated when you were in the Hilo area. As you probably noticed, we get a lot of rain. If you're ever out our way again and would like to ride as a guest with our little club, we'd be dellighted to have you along.

He mea iki! Hope I cheered you up a bit. Glad you have a great spirit. You just have a short flight home. That TG Owner's Manual will get your juices flowing.
Glad you enjoyed the pictures..... Despite all the development that has taken place, Hawaii is still paradise. We had nice weather for our visit, but the north shore was cloudy and damp. We used the Saddle Road to stay away. Cruise ships do not allow much time for exploring.

We prefer staying on the islands.
Hawaii is quite far from New Jersey, but you never know. We may be back, especially because we have children/grandchildren in California. We may combine trips as we did in December. If we do go back to Hawaii, we will certainly look you up.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!! Keep on triking..........

Aloha Trent! Sorry you had to leave from the vog. It does get thick over on the other side. Doesn't bother me that much, but I know it sure does get to some people bad. If you're ever back this way, let me know, either here or through our MC's website. We'd love to have you ride with us!

I just yesterday got to ride out new tri glide for the first time. Look for a post about that on the Harley Trikes thread.
Mahalo for your good wishes,
BIB
