Not a whole lot of scenic pics travelling the interstates but since we're foodies we have had some great meals along the way. Our first overnight was in Atlanta at 'Papi's Cuban and Caribbean Grill.' Chicken soup with smoked pulled chicken, noodles, and cocoyam, Empanadas, 2 beef and 2 chicken, delicious.
Our next stop was in Marion, IL to meet our friend "Tri-Greg" who just joined the forum a few days ago. He took us to an old feed mill that was converted to a restaurant, looks like they're having a shindig next month, lol. Couldn't believe it but they had a baloney sandwich on the menu, a thick slice, pepper jack cheese and a fried egg, it was very good.
Dessert!!! This custard stand has been operating for 60 continuous years, the replica Statue of Liberty has been there since the beginning.
Finally made it to the Chicago area and our daughter and son-in-laws place after 3 days on the road, we headed out to a Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives place called 'Kumas Corner', famous for their burgers & mac and cheese. We were here about 5 years ago and it is still outstanding. All their burgers are themed from heavy metal music or bands. We had the 'Lair of the Minotaur' - 10 oz. burger, caramelized onion, pancetta, bourbon poached pear, brie cheese on a pretzel roll. Mac & Cheese was with bacon, jalapeno, scallions & breadcrumbs.
That's all the pics for now, we're leaving Wednesday and heading up into Wisconsin on the bikes till Saturday.
