when i had my motortrike solid axle. i was told by progressive that the shocks have to be ordered threw motortrike. i tried for months trying to find shocks for mine but couldn't find anything that would work. if you look at the bottom of the shock you will see the the bottom mount is welded to one side of the shock where regular motorcycle shocks the mount is centered.
that where i ran into the problem. also make sure you get the right shocks. when my kit was installed the wrong shocks were put on it. they were to short and everytime i hit a bump the shocks would extend to their fullest. but the suspension kept wanting to go farther.
after a couple of years of this. it ended up breaking the upper shock mounts right off the frame and sent the shocks up threw the body of the trike. when i called motortrike about the issue they stated that those are not the correct shocks and i had to buy the correct ones which were about 1 1/2 inches longer.
hi Jack, I don't have a honda, but I do have a Yamaha royal star venture with motor trike solid ford axle.
I just completed a complete rebuild to the trike suspension. I found on amazon.com a set of progressive shocks with the same spring rating as the originals. the part # is 412-4223c, The c is for chrome. the black were not available. price was $269.00 with shipping. they are Honda gold wing replacement shocks and i believe fit harley sportster. The bottom mount is off set, same as my original shocks. you do need to use the old spacer bushings, the new shocks fit perfectly. If you need to replace the air bags you can find them on Airbagit, com Part# V baga-800-long 800# $104.00 for 2
Shocks should be mounted as vertical as possible and should be loosely mounted so that the spacers do NOT create a binding situation. Just hang the shock (loosely) from the upper mount and use the spacers appropriately on the bottom. It might vary from side to side but that is inconsequential.
Oh, don't forget to tighten everything when done too.

It seems to be out of stock everywhere though... will keep looking... I see the offset in the bottom eye, never noticed that on mine. Doesnt mean its not there...

One of the airbags on mine had the brass insert pull out of the plastic base. I put it back in with red locktite, and added a washer so if it DOES come out again I dont lose it. I would not mind new ones.
