The'll be around for many more years, They will just close dealerships, Keep the supply of bikes low ..IE..Lay offs and close factories ...This is a big country there will always be enough money around to buy over priced bikes..

I have heard from two different dealerships that they are having a hard time getting new bikes but it is because sales are up nationwide. According to what I am hearing Milwaukee is working overtime putting out new bikes. Maybe I just talked to the wrong two dealerships that are blowing smoke.

Harley new game plan is to limit the bikes they ship out to give the illusion of their rarity and to force dealers into pushing the sales of certified used Harley's...Once the glut of used bikes is over....They will rehire some of the 800 workers they laid off and re-open the factory they shut down....At least thats what they are hopping for...

Harley did this crap in the '90s. Above market value, dealers selling above market value and waiting lists. However, when this one is over, harley davidson will close.

That’s awesome e xactly what my local dealer told me . Sounds like a terrible plan to me . I have read a couple great reviews on the Pan American , not my cup of tea but it may bring in some new blood.

My local dealer also is hurting himself as they quit installing customer purchased parts. THEY have to order the parts to install . While I was there I saw them turn down a big bore kit install. Another unhappy customer there.

What my reply was supposed to say is that is exactly what my dealer and another dealer told me . Create a shortage of new businesses mes to drive up prices. Bad move as your loyal customer base is aging out!

Harley corporate has done a lot of stupid things lately. Closing dealers is going to piss a lot of folks off big time. Using a Hollywood elitist that no one cares about to push their agenda IMO will not help, they need real people ( every day Americans) that buy and ride to be in their commercials.

Corporate needs to spend more money advertising. Ever since Willie G retired the design folks have not IMO stepped up to real world ideas. Better testing before marketing will give the public more faith in buying their (expensive) products.



Re introduce the buy back program on Sportster and Street 500 models could be a good way to interest first time buyers. JMO

Suppose I could be a Negative Nellie but dont feel like it at the moment. HD has responded to a request I and many others have been bugging them about: Bring back the "ElectraGlide In Blue" and dang if they didnt. See- things aint all that bad.

The HD life style is clothes that are overpriced and, made in China, India or, Pakistan for the most part. My new Can Am RT Ltd cost half of what a new Tri Glide Ultra would have cost. Has better fuel mileage and is much more comfortable to ride. Runs on regular gas too. As for the "image" ............. Who needs it ?

Agreed, HD clothing is way overpriced and could be made here and sold for same price. Talk about profit! A buddy of mine just showed me his new leather jacket... between $500 and $600... and made overseas... My leather jacket was in that price range but it was made in Independence, VA by Fox Creek Leathers and guaranteed for life. If a zipper, snap or stitch fails they will fix it free of charge or replace it if they can't fix it. Try that at your Harley dealership with your HD jacket.

I have a friend back in Mn that bought a new HD jacket. The next day the zipper failed. The dealer/ boutique said they would have to send it in to be fixed. What the heck does that even mean?

You would think they would either refund the money or replace the jacket?

I have a 3/4 length jacket that i have had for maybe 30 years and its a Harley jacket, i have had a couple zippers replaced over the years and it is nice an broke in, but last year while at Iron Pony i found a Roland Sands jacket that was a canvas type material,zip out liner, elastic in the inner sleeve and it was less than $100. And this is the warmest ridding jacket i have ever owned, heavy but warm. These two coats should outlast me.

Looks like $7,700 difference to me. 1/2 price would be 17,499.5. The can-am is about $9,799. 50 more than 1/2 but who's counting.

If you enjoy it that's all at that matters. It may be a better ride but around here they want more than I'm willing to pay for either one of them. Gonna take a cam-am training class this weekend. Interested to check them out. The only 3 wheel training course offered around here.

HD. Smart people. The customer pays for the privleage of advertising for the company. But I guess that's no different then paying to advertise for Guy Harvey. What makes people want to do that? Never thought that I would spend .$10 at Harley. I'm a Honda kind a guy. I did buy a new helmet there this week. Gloss black 1/2 helmet w/ pull down dark shade the fits over my glasses. 3 other dealership told me they could not get that. LS2 Rebellion and it does not say Harley on it.
