    Default Voyager.

Just went to twiggs to look at the 2012 voyager. Wouldn't you know they sold it at 7 pm last night. The guy i talked to said when I'm ready. Come in and he'll order a new one from the factory. And he'll cut me a deal. Might wait till nov. then i can order a 2020. Possibly. But if the factoy still has a 2019 available somewhere then I'd get a good deal. He said after riding the valk for so many years that I'm going to really disappointed in the power of the kaw. But i figure with ivans flash I'll be looking for that power for awhile but then I'll get used to having to drop gears to keep the rpm's up. I figure it will be like crawling out of a plymouth with a 440 under the hood and going to a 4 cyl. Just something to get used to. Just got to thinking. With my bike having 214,000 miles on it. I've deffinatly noticed a loss of power from it. So it might not be that much of a change.

I haven't rode a 1700 but my 1600 seems pretty peppy to me.Not that I really hot rod my bikes and my ride to work is at 65 but it does it effortlessly. Its still a 2 wheeler.I do tend to go faster on my ol 1500 goldwing trike.I think its more me though.Ride 1 and you might be surprised. Also there was a triked Voyager in Louisiana for 15k from an individual I don't know its sold or not.

Yes. I seen the one in la. For sale. But I don't fly. So driving that distance to go and see if i would like it would be a pretty far trip. But i do appreciate the suggestion. If you don't notice that much difference between your 1500 and your 1600 then there might not be a huge difference. But the valkyrie with the six carbs and hotter cams would run with the 1800 goldwing all day long. But i dought it would outrun the goldwing. You might be right i might be surprised. Sure hope i am. I'm going to start stripping mine tomorrow with things that I'm not leaving go with it if they total it. Thank you for the reply.

Why are you not considering a Gold Wing trike?

There are plenty of them out there for sale and especially in the fall with riding season coming to an end. I can tell you from personal experience that the GL1800 is chock full of power with no tweeking and tuning needed.

1 very good reason i will not buy a gold wing. Because i do all my own work. And i dispise working on a goldwing. half a day to install an air filter is rediculas. I've worked on 1500 and 1800 wings. 6 and 1/2 hours from start to finish to rebuild the front forks just isn't my cup of tea either.

I sat on plenty of goldwing trikes and i felt cramped and felt like everything was pushing back into me. Didn't care for that. I know goldwings are the cadilacs of the road and they are beautiful. I just won't own one.

My favorite bike of ALL time was my Voyager 1200.

The only thing that bike did not have was reverse...but I was careful where/how I parked and my leg muscles and upper body strength were great.

I loved that bike and have much remorse that I did not keep it.

Years later I went to buy another one..nope...now they were big heavy monsters and I was not as strong as I once was...

i fully understand, thats why i triked my valk back in 2004. just too much weight for me to hold up when the wife was on and i could'nt get the right footing. as far as the voyager i can get reverse put into it. my valk does'nt have reverse but unless i was trying to back it uphill i had no problem at all.

but the voyager will have aqua shields so reverse will be handy.

Cramping isn't my problem but I agree the 1800s are harder to work on than I want to deal with.I have had alot of thoughts on what to do when my wing dies.VTX,Venture,Voyager are I see as options at this time.I would do my nomad the options for kits aren't what I want to see.

I've been turning wrenches for 45 years. I'm work on construction equipment now. Getting to the point the last thing i want to do after spending 10 hours a day working on equipment is come home and have to deal with hours of removing stuff to get to what i need to do. Then hours of reinstalling stuff. Ya know what i mean. I just want something simple and something i can tinker with in the winter upgrading little things. I have a 5000 btu heater in my 10 by 12 shed and i can go out there and tinker in the winter to get away from the spousel unit. LoL.

    Default Voyager 1200 trike

I bought my 1996 voyager 1200 trike on eBay about 5 years ago. It only 8300 miles on it & I love it. I do most of the work on it myself.

Bob... I had a 1987 Voyager 12, 2-wheeler. My FAVORITE bike of ALL time.

Yes.. they were SO much easier for my husband to work on than our Gold Wing 1800’s.

    Hang on to that treasure!

looks like i'm closer to my voyager, talked with the insurance company today and asked about the progress,

she's been having trouble getting an accurate price on the trike kit. so far everybody she called has said it's worth half of what i paid for it. so if you add in the bike and the accessories i'm looking at about an 8 grand total. not bad for a 20 year old bike. i was figuring more like 4 or 5 grand.. surprised me..

insurance company called this morning, they are giving me 15,400 for my trike. quite abit more than i was figuring. i damn near fell over

and this is for a trike that was 20 years old and had 214,000 miles on it.

they said because of the adjuster dropping the ball and my claims person not keeping up with the adjuster they were giving me top dollar.
