Unhappy Question on rear calipers for Viper

So I had ordered Speedbleeders for my GL1800 including ones for the rear calipers. I finally got a chance to install them today. What I noticed was that the bleeders on the conversion rear end appear to be very similar to Speedbleeders but slightly different. Do the Viper standard rear calipers come with some kind of speedbleeder setup or are they just standard bleeders. I will admit I didnt check them out and just replaced them anyway.

Or if they are normally standard bleeders, is it possible that the builder may have changed them out? Like I mentioned, they look very similar but the speedbleeders have a more pointy bottom and the bleeders I removed were rounded off just a bit. Also, the Speedbleaders had some kind of grey thread lock were the ones I removed didnt appear to have any. I will try to post a photo of both side by side. The speedbleeder is the one on the left and the one I removed is on the right.

Standard bleeders you can blow air (by mouth) through them and speed bleeders you can't.

Ok, mystery solved. They were just standard bleeders. Thanks for jumpstarting my brain. Its rough getting old. But I must say these new Speed bleeders are amazing. They will make bleeding and flushing a much easier task now. I always did they mighty vac before but really think I'm going to enjoy this new method.

Yes, I have speed bleeders on both of my trikes. I just attach the rubber hose from the catch bag and change the fluid for the front, rear and clutch. Simple one person operation and great for maintenance changing brake fluid. Never get air in the system.

    Default Speed Bleeders

Been wondering we have a 2010 Goldwing with the Cobra CSC kit.

Does CSC kit use the same size bleeders as comes stock on the Goldwing?

Does anyone know what size or sizes i need to do front, rear, and clutch on our 2010 and how many total??

Appreciate any help you can give.

As far as the speedbleeders needed for GL1800 trikes, I know that 4 SB8135L are needed and 2 SB8125 too. 2 of the SB8125L are needed for left caliper, 1 SB8125L for top of the anti dive valve and the final SB8125L goes to bottom right bleeder. Space is limited on top right caliper bleeded so that will use one of the SB8125. The other SB8125 would be used for clutch if you choose but many say that the clutch will gravity bleed just fine. I haven't changed my clutch bleeder yet but have the extra speedbleeder if and when I choose to do it. On the back of the Viper, there are 8 bleeders. I installed 8 SB51624 ones. The Viper calipers call for 5/16-24 thread bleeders. I am assuming that the Cobra will probably use the same ones. I ordered directly from Speedbleeder as I didnt find any retailer that sold them any cheaper. I also bought the Speedbleeder bag which came with a decent length rubber hose. It looks small but handled flushing both the front and rear brake systems and I probably could have done the clutch as well but I did it last year so I'm not worried. Here is what I ordered. I didnt know it at the time but each speedbleeder also comes with a cap. I ordered caps separately so I now have more than enough spares...

One other thing to add is that there are 2 different sized wrenches ( either 6 and 8mm or 8 and 10mm, I cant recall right now) needed to bleed the original brake bleeders. Once you switch over to speedbleeders, only 1 size will be needed for all.

Just to add, there is a specific sequence to follow when bleeding the rear brake system. Here is the instructions from CSC. Read closely as when you reach the rear brakes, do the front bleeders on rear brakes first starting on the outside, then go to anti dive valve, then rear bleeders on rear brakes starting with the outside ones first again.

Yes on the front left caliper when bleeding the anti dive valve. It does move. IIRC, you also have to pump foot brake a couple times first before opening anti dive valve and pushing up on left caliper.

One other thing to mention. In post #8, I have the order backwards but since this thread is 2 years old, I can't edit that post. The directions from CSC that I linked to are correct. So I should have posted:

do the rear bleeders on rear brakes first starting on the outside, then go to anti dive valve, then front bleeders on rear brakes starting with the outside ones first again.
