But alas a tech has to make a living, so there goes that idea. I would love a test ride tho, mmm, might motivate me to invest in the insanity. Attachment 39827
Holy smokes, Downtown! That is one heck of a trike! Pretty sure it'd be way too much for me, though. I'd doubtless put it into the side of our neighbor's house when I first took off LOL

Yep, I saw the same, slaw, but my local shop said it can be done. Out of curiosity, I went directly to HD and was told that, yes, it can be added to a trike BUT it invalidates the engine portion of your warranty since it was not designed with trikes in mind.

With that being said, I think I'll leave my girl's engine where it is and just tweak it with a Screamin' Eagle Stage I

That Stage 5 appears to be identical to my stage 4.. Exactly I think. They must have just changed the name since I did the stage 4. Mine screams along pretty well, but Kevin from DK with his stage 1 motor kept up with me on some 7% grades last year. And he was 2 up. I was not.

Kevin seems to be at the top of knowing how to upgrade, Trent. Since the Stage V is not covered by warranty if done on a trike, I am going to pass on the option. On the other hand, I have decided to either let Kevin do my Stage I when my warranty is dead, or go with a 110 crate engine, as was suggested by Gorilla. Either way, I hope to have her jazzed up before I'm too old to enjoy the power

Whatever his Stage 1 involves seems to work pretty well, from what I witnessed. We hauled up a several miles long 7% grade with 7 or 8 fairly wide curves. By the time we got to the top we were doing between 82 to 84 mph and he was right behind me. He said he was maxed out, but I still had a little bit left to pull out if I chose to do so. Very impressive since he had his BOB [ Babe On Back ] behind him. I still maintain I weigh more than the 2 of them put together even though he sez that is not true.. LOL...

Will not void any warranty, don't know what you dealer is thinking, but who cares, its my dealer who has to warrant any work that would need to be done.

So if you want to play with the big boys, then you have to do more than stock, or stay on the porch as you have mentioned as it is not for you. Enjoy the rocking chair.

Sorry, you can't convince me that your stage 4 is the same as the stage 5.

But then I just finished a few months back rebuilding my old Evo myself so what do I know. It seems you have a good build there from the dealer, makes a big difference. When you first posted Stage 5 you sounded like you did it, was kind of vague in the first post my bad..
    Oh well.

I am certainly no mechanic but I checked out what comes with that stage 5. I seriously cannot see any difference from what I have with a 4. Does anyone know what the differences are? I am just curious as there was not a stage 5 available when I did mine. I kinda sorta blew up my original motor which was about a stage 2, and since it was under warranty, my tech talked me into the 4 because the labor was going to be covered anyway. I just had to buy the stage 4 parts. So I opted to do that rather than drop in a 110, or 120, or go to an S&S, which I also considered. I know 3 guys that have the HD 120 in their T-glides and are very happy with them, once they finally got them dialed in, which was quite a challenge for some reason. I got the full stage 4 for about 60% less than it would have cost if not for the warranty.

My dealer has no dyno for a trike, but my Buddy did the exact same stage 4 on his 2012 Ultra at the same time I did and we used his map to tune mine. He hit 114 HP and I don't remember the torque except that it was well over 100.

Of course you lose a lotta that HP by the time it filters down to the pavement on a Trike. If I ever blow this one up, I will most likely just drop in another motor of some kind.

That Freewheeler will be a screamer with that stage 5,, that's fer sure.

Here is what HD is calling a Stage IV these days-

It maintains the same cylinders/Cubic inches

Here is what HD is calling a Stage V these days-

It includes all of a Stage IV, plus larger cylinders, bumping the cubic inches up to 110

118 horsepower and 130 lb of torque are great numbers. Should be a blast to ride!

At DK Custom we concentrate on doing Stage I upgrades (that will support all the way up to a Stage V upgrade).

The reason we concentrate on Stage I upgrades is that we can almost always get more power out of our Stage I upgrades than most folks get out of their Stage II upgrades...and our Stage I upgrades have never voided a warranty, and are much less expensive than a Stage II. Most performance oriented Stage II upgrades instantly void the powertrain warranty.

The other reason is that Twin Cams have a crankshaft that is notoriously prone to twisting (being ruined), and doing a Stage IV or Stage V without plugging and welding the crank is even more likely to end up with a twisted crank (if one were to play with that extra power).

That said, trikeharley's Stage V with his dealer covering the warranty for him...that is some sweet power.

My Stage I Tri-Glide is putting out 106 lb of torque, while more than most Stage II's, still a far cry from 130 lbs.

But 106 is enough for wheelies anytime I want.

Mufflers keep it from going over.

Yeah, I think they changed their nomenclature...probably getting more $ out of the change too.

    Default Stage 4 & 5

The differance between the 2 stages is that Stage 5 Has bigger Fuel Injectors, Which jumps the Hp. up fast.

hello im thinking about putting the tire shredder kit on my 2016 freewheeler can u tell me will it hurt anything on the rear end or drive belt? and is it good for use with everyday riding im afraid of a brake down because of to much torque

Default stage V tire shredder kit is stage iv ???

i called harley dealer where they build the motor and install (the tire shredder kit) in Claremont fl. and they also do the dyno right there, they said there is no stage v only stage iv and u need a tts tuner and it runs about $4700 but it will void the warranty and if u look it up on HD sight u can see there is stage 1 stage 111 and stage iv but no stage v. I just wonder about everyday use i really like the numbers that it gives on HP and torqe i still have a year left on my 2016 FW but i still might do it. does anyone no what the worst thing that could happen manly the in the rear end or drive belt or has anyone got this put on there thike and have any problem??

I generally find that if I don't get in too much of a hurry to do things like this, the urge passes.

Too, I assume (we all know what can happen when we assume), can be done by an HD shop, and, hopefully, keep your warranty in tact, if you have warranty on the trike. If warranty is an issue, it looks to me like the Shredder is the way to go. If not, and especially if one can do the work himself/herself, the S&S looks truly sweet. Being new to this, I may be way off base, and apologize if I have spoken incorrectly.
