Making my Harley Comfy

Okay ... so most of you know that I call my trike Fat Bottom Girl. SO .... Making Harley comfy is about my best buddy ... Harley.



Okay ... so Monday I went and picked him up a new harness that goes around his chest for when he is in the Pet Palace. Tuesday was raining and cold. While playing with him yesterday I noticed several (3) spots that could be ticks. We've never had a big issue with them here, but, who knows. One of them is on his nose and that's close to his one remaining eye ...

I called my vet ... and they said to bring him in and they'd check him out (my mom had an appointment for her dog, the 120# Rotty Lab mix, so they will just add Harley) ... he goes this morning at 9:30.

Since it is gorgeous outside, I decided to test the pet palace and see how he likes it. I'm also going to bring his crate incase he freaks out so mom can bring him home. He's been on bikes all his life, but, always in the pouch.

I have the pad on the trike, the speaker covers are on and the pet palace is strapped down. The arm rests where a good idea, gives me a very sturdy spot to strap the pet palace down. They do block my ability to get him out the side "door", but, I doubt he will use it except in a hotel room.

I was worried that the backrest might not work, even with the tour pak all the way back. I sat on the trike and there is enough play in the pet palace where I can be comfy too! But, if you have a non human buddy, you know, it's not about me ... LOL.

A friend of mine is making a couple of fleece covered pillows to put in the pet palace so he'll be comfy, but, for today, he'll have to use a towel. I have a beach towel I've slept on for a couple nights, figured if he can smell me, maybe he will be more comfy. Maybe not ...

I will try to get a picture of him in it if he cooperates ... LOL ... like I said, it's never about what I want, always what he wants ...

I didn't realize it until we got on the road ... forgot his doggles ... bad Daddy.

Here's the little guy when I first put him in the pet palace ... seems to like being able to stand and look out. Not sure you can tell, but, his chest harness is put on with the D ring on the bottom, he can't get any taller.



After a few minutes he sat and seemed to like that too. I was helping mom with Annabelle ... the Rotty Lab mix ... she don't like the car ... so I have to help her in.



I didn't realize I forgot the doggles until we got to the Vet. My bad, they are now in the tour pak ... I used to keep them in the pouch.

On the way back, Harley put his paws on my back and was really enjoying the ride ... since we were on the Riverside Parkway (four lane divided road, bypass around the town ... sort of), I decided to try to get a pic ... yep ... not smart but it only took a second.



All in all, I think the Pet Palace is a hit ... he seems to love it.

Harley has been asleep since we got home ... the Vet is not his favorite place ... maybe the fresh air got to him also ...

Forgot to mention, the things I thought were ticks ... turns out to be old age moles ... so the little guy is fine

I took Harley for another ride ... with Doggles this time. I think I need to get him some new ones.



The elastic is really getting old and they don't stay on as snug. By the first stop at a friends house to let her measure the pet palace pad to make a few covers so I can wash them, he had pulled them down around his neck. I put them back up, and watched him pull them down. They are very loose, even after I tightened them as much as they will.

Ordered my buddy a set of these ... specifically for Yorkies and Chihuahua's. They give measurement for center to center on the lens ... should fit Harley well.

Doggles for our little guys kind-of worked out the same as these....and they were brand new.

They never seemed to really fit correctly. If you got them adjusted where they wouldn't rub on the eye then they were too loose around the neck... if you tightened them up they would get into the eye.

Let us know how these new shades work out for Harley.

I will ... Harley is having a ball on the trike ... today's ride was like 45 minutes ... all around town ... I kept looking for other dogs to see how he reacted ... he just stood there staring at them like he was all that and a bag of chips ... also had lots of folks pointing and laughing ... even some ... LOL ... I don't think I'm gonna get too many solo rides anymore ... Next week's ride to Breckenridge for the HOG rally will be solo ... the hotel is not pet friendly ... Might be a sad puppy those two days.

The hotel is no smoking, no pets and I'm not sure how they will take to me ... ... this is primarily a ski in the winter and a cyclist in the summer hotel I believe. I'm fairly sure they are not gonna be ready for me ... LOL ... they would probably prefer Harley show up ...
