Best 16" Front Tire?
I have a 2005 FLHTCUI with a Motortrike conversion and the front tire I have is running thin. I'm looking for something with some staying power 10-15K and that is eay to steer- I don't have raked trees.
I see posts advocating Michelin Pilot Active and Bridgestone Battleax -they don't make 16" tires from what I can see. I also hear Pirelli Night Dragons don't last very long 8-10K. Any suggestions based on experience?

Gonzo. I just put a rear dunlop from the 07 FLHR on the front. Have 5k on it and it still looks new. Your rear tires are thicker then the front should last longer up there.

Im doing the same thing with mine. I did reverse the direction of the rear tire arrow due to how the casing rubber layers are laid when the tire is constructedOriginally Posted by Gorilla

I use a Dunlop GT501 rear tire mounted in reverse. Gives triple mileage and is not apt to cupping like the stock rear tire (MT90-16 Dunlop 402). Also the 2004 - 2008 FLH-FLT used a MU85-16 on the rear of the 2 wheeler. That is larger than the MT90 or 130 that is used on the front. Might be a clearance issue on the front.

Is that an MU85-16 size tire that works on the front of your Trike and I'm guessing you have it mounted backwards?

Over here in NZ, i don't think we can use a rear fitment tyre in the front. I am currently building a trike, I have a 16" harley rear that I have an Avon tyre on. Its hard to find an appropriatly load rated tyre, in 16" that isn't a rear fitment only tyre.
