    Default 2008 Venture Hannigan

Hello everyone, my in-laws have joined us on three wheels they purchased a 2008 Yamaha Venture with the Hannigan on it. it is a beautiful bike and rides good. it has a modulator on the head light that has to go we are not to fond of it. it does not have a reverse, I tried telling him it was not necessary but I think there is going to be one added and I will be the one doing the install when it happens. the front end has a wobble in it sometimes that we have not had time to figure out, I believe it is the front tire so it may get a new one when riding season comes back around. if anyone has an idea what to look for or some input on installing the reverse let us know. these picture show it beside my Triglide

Took it for a short trip yesterday and he says he misses his CD player in his old bike so I guess I'll be looking at hooking him up with some digital music.

does it have the stock front end...if not.. most likely thats where the wobble is coming from.... set of raked trees should solve that problem..

Just curious...what is it you don’t like about the modulator? I loved mine on my other bikes and wish I had one on this trike. If it is because it annoys someone in front of the bike just turn the headlights to low..it should stop modulating.

Ron, I have a CD changer I'd be glad to donate.

I don't have the harness though. Not Sure what the installer did with it.

I wasn't using it anyway before the install. Digital is the better way to go.

    Default Wobble

With my wife's Roadstar I converted to a trike, she has a wobble at different speeds and if riding solo or with a passenger. Using the air shocks I installed she can increase or decrease the rear ride height stopping the wobble. The only thing I see it changing is the rake and trail on the front wheel. So you might want to see if the rear end is level or too high. Just a thought.

he said turning it on low beam didn't change it I'll have to look at it and if you get out after dark do you notice the light modulating in front of you?

Thanks Mike, I'll have to check on the harness, his 2009 has a cd player but I would like to move him up to digital if I can. I had a digital player on my 06 but that's been awhile back. I don't listen to a lot of music when I'm riding if it wasn't for Trina bobbing her head I wouldn't even know the radio was on

That is interesting. when we rode the other day he said when it does it he just puts a little pressure on the handlebars and it stops. the steering bearings have been check by a dealer and the bike barely has 20000 miles on it so still thinking front tire. he also said it seams to happen if only holding on with one hand, I told him not to do that but I guess we all do from time to time.

almost always the neck bearings is the cause of the wobble. just tighten them a little and see if that corrects the problem.

The modulator, by law, should quit modulating after dark.

It also should not modulate on low beam.

according to the paper work he got with the bike the bearings were checked in October 2020 by a dealer. but I know that's not like checking it myself.

RSV's are sensitive to neck bearing tightness. Get that front end up off the ground and tug back and forth on the front wheel if you detect any movement, there is your problem. Good luck chasing this down. Tire pressure can also affect it as may also the tire.

He checked the tire pressure yesterday and it was 33psi I told him the next chance we get to ride we will bump it up to 40psi and see if it makes a difference. when I get it over here at my shop I will raise it up and check the bearings myself.
