VW 1800i Rewaco FX4 Trike

Following a clean up of my REWACO FX4 1800 Injection, full service and cosmetic clean up my trike is looking beautiful again.
I have an intermittent and irritating problem which is bothering me. Done about 6 runs of around 45 minutes over the last 6 to 8 weeks and on 2 occasions out of the 6 after getting back and turning the trike off, I open the garage door and go to restart the trike (still hot from the run) and it won't start. It tries to start but coughs, splutters, fires on one cylinder, cuts out, rattles pops etc, almost like the timing is off or someone has swapped all my HT leads around, the strange bit is that if I leave it stood for 2 minutes and try again it fires right up as if nothing has happened.

Really wierd, as stated won't happen all the time just occasionally, any ideas? It's injection not carburettor, could it be fuel filter or pump?

Sounds kind of like the coil may be breaking down once in awhile.

Is it electronic ignition or ole points and condenser? If points and condenser I would also suspect the condenser.

Also check the carbon center in your distributor cap. That could also cause such symptoms.

Hi, it's electronic ignition, never considered the coil, not easy to check out especially when the fault is intermittent.

How about vapor lock from hot fuel?
