    Default Accessorizing my trike

OK, so maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit, but I've got to do something trike-related while I'm waiting for my trike. So I'm posting (1) a photo of the bike that will soon become my trike, and (2) the cool sheepskin seat cover that I bought for her (him? How does one determine the gender of a trike?) today. Now won't that bike make a trike-a-licious trike? And doesn't that mottled silver sheepskin look perfect for it?

I'm also thinking of getting some kind of stuffed critter to strap in the passenger position. That'll take some more thought though. Suggestions?

Juju, when he/she is "born" you'll just know the gender! Mine, for instance, is DEFINITELY a girl. LOL! I will say, though, that when I saw the bike at Zook's place (and talked nice to it for you, by the way ), I definitely saw it in terms of a girl. I realize that could clarify and change once it is fully matured. Really, as the parent, it will be up to you to make the identification.

I agree with Nana, it is a decision U have to make. Is it going to be Male or Female or is it going to be "The Silver Fox" or some other name??? The name has to suit U...... Good luck it will come to U......

That will be a beautiful trike Juju. I had an easy time with mine. After I saw it the first time, the name "BLUE" fit well.

As far as gender, I'll have to see how Blue behaves.

JuJu, you will have a very pretty Trike! I named mine "Little Pony". Can't wait to see the finished product!

Meticulous care is taken during the construction of iron and rubber to assemble a new life. When a bike is born its soul kindles while awaiting a new owner’s caress and nurturing. Life begins as the key is turned and the motor rumbles during her maiden voyage much like the trip home with the family after the birth of a new child.

As your bonding begins and trust is developed, maturing through the years of enjoyment, your bike becomes a part of your soul. Missed when not together, burning for the next encounter, dreams of that new warm day to refresh the spirit.

Conversion is yet another graduation of life yet the ties that bind are never lessened by the uncertainty. Skilled technicians molding the new as a professor unleashes the minds of the young a stronger kindred spirit emerges. Her new soul kindles while awaiting her partner’s caress and nurturing. New life begins as the key is turned and the motor rumbles during her maiden voyage back to those who love her so much.

Myths cry with a new life comes gifts of love. The legend of a charmed bell to drive away the road gremlins to secure the safety of the return ride is strong. A second bell was our first addition to her during the welcome home party.

Reksul, do I detect in you the soul of a storyteller? What a creative expression of the trike birthing process! I'll keep all that in mind as I continue to wait, and wait, and ..... you get the idea.

Speaking of names, here are some ideas. Whady'all think?
    Ironheart
    Silver (a little too obvious)
Coyote (my first bike's name, resurrected)
    Grey Ghost

How about Foxy. Especially with the sheepskin. You could get a stuffed grey fox for your back seat!

Regarding a machine's gender: I bought my trike from a pair of female-life partners. (I love the trike and the way it was cared for. Period.) My friends call it the Dike Trike. I just laugh and give them a whatever... Now my 17 year old daughter has named her inherited Buick "Billy". This has enabled many humorous discussions of the whole gender-naming-of-machines, boats, cars, etc. My question: If mine is a DikeTrike, is it both male and female, gender neutral or what? I have my own non-answer answer, but I'm curious as to what this board thinks.

... i got accused of writing a creed for a bike club while sipping on Jack Daniels and letting the fingers dance away. Truth be known I wasn't sipping !

Bike names are really tough. My Ultra is a Peace Officers Special Edition so she was dubbed "POSE". Once the trike was born the name POSE didn't fit anymore. Eventually FBG rolled off the lips and that seems to be her new name (Fat Bottom Girl).

C's deluxe is Cobalt Blue/Pearl White but we are always fiddling and adding chrome so the name "Tinker" fit and stuck. We have a Screamin' Eagle Fat Boy and a name really hasn't stuck just yet even after months of thought.

Try not to force a name, there is no birth certificate to fill out ( LOL ) Take your time and when you least expect it a name will "roll out" during a conversation. Like a lightening bolt it will stick where it hits then you will know immediately that it is right.

Oooooh -- that's close to thin ice, Saybel! But, they do have nice, shapely "hips", so maybe I'll assume it's a complement to women everywhere!

When we had the VW based Trike Shop trike, it was just The Blue Trike. That was replaced with our current trike. Technically it is Gloria's, even though she has found she likes the Admiral's seat in the rear, so it is Her Purpleness. Her's, and it's purple. Don't really have a name for the Harley, though at times when it does well it will be "Baby" and when it doesn't start it has other names.

Wow, look how my little thread about trike accessories has blossomed into a discussion about gender--gotta love it!

Having only spent a little time with the bike and none yet with it as a trike, I'm getting a sense of femaleness from it. I also like to think of my machines as my various alter egos. So my Suzuki motorcycle was my loud, adventurous alter ego. My speedy Italian bicycle, for example, is my athletic, racy alter ego. I'm wondering what aspect of me the trike will embody. The Silver-Tongued Devil maybe?

Somehow, we have never named any of our bikes. At last count, we have owned 18 different bikes over the years, and can't remember naming any of them. They were (are) always refered to as "blue bike" "red bike" "black bike" etc. If we had two red bikes, we just said 'the red dyna', or 'the red sporty'. Now that the only blue bike we currently have has been triked, it's still the 'blue bike' but I'm sure it will soon be called 'the trike.'
Funny, I'll have to ask my better half about names....hmmmm.
