Whats your thoughts on the trunk liner option. Worth it or could have done without it?

I've seen the inside of a non-lined trunk and really didn't like it sooooo..
My trunk liner consists of the carpet supplied by Motor Trike. I'm so pitiful that I lay a towel on the bottom to keep it from getting dirty but haven't noticed any bump or thump from what I carry. I even covered the air compressor to keep it from scratching what I haul or rubbing a hold in a piece of luggage.
Looks like my vote would be for a liner.
reksul and I think alike. I opted for the liner and love it! Just doesn't seem "finished" without it! and I like that the carpeting keeps things from scraping too.
I'll second (or third that) get the liner, it's well worth it. Liner or not, don't carry around anything small and heavy (like the trailer hitch for example) unsecured in the trunk. It will bounce around and possibly crack the 'glass.

I would see about making one for myself. Well, I did on the trike - used remnants of indoor/outdoor carpert, cut to fit. Liked it, so I did the same for the saddlebags on the Harley. Have had people ask me where I bought them.
Lots cheaper than the MoFoCo (IMNSHO) overpriced item.

Thanks for the input.
Was thinking about the trunk liner thing - it you are looking for a carpet type insert to keep things from bouncing around, it should be easy to make it yourself. Now if you are looking at the HD Tour Pac liner that is more like a duffel that zips and carries away, that is a horse of a different color. I have seen those aftermarket somewhere on the web for about $35 - 40, and from HD around $70. Harder to make, but convienient and more secure when you can easily take your stuff with you. Do they make a duffel liner for the lower trunk on the Tri-Glide?

Ozark, yes HD does make a set for the FLHTCUTG. I posted this info in another thread, but I'll copy it here:
Mother Harley has a nice set of luggage designed to fit the Tri Glide trunk. "These well-constructed, ballistic nylon bags are designed to fit perfectly into the trunk of the Tri Glide model. Styled with a reflective Bar & Shield logo, the bags feature zippered outer pouches and a mesh inner storage pocket for packing convenience. Comfortable carrying straps make transportation a breeze. Sold in pairs." P/N 83847-09. $89.95 at the dealer, or $70.14 at a discount dealer.

My trunk liner came as standard equipment, I would think you would want the trunk lined.
