Centramatic balancer

Has any one installed the centramatic balancer on their trike..how hard are they to install? And how good do they work..i understand they are not made for the rear trike tires

Just had 'em installed...Only available on front. Good so far...EZ install one on each side of front wheel.

Had them installed on front end when bike was triked and they are working very well.

The 'harmonic balancer' rings (Centramatics in this case) have been around for many years and were marketed primarily to the over-the-road truck community - where as a common practice they often don't balance all the tires on their 18-wheelers, and they've been known to run some notoriously out of balance retreads. I can only add my own opinion and that is to put them in the same category as the air cleaners which can add 25% more horsepower.

The harmonic balancers of varied designs and names will indeed improve your tire's ride and smoothness - if it is out of balance to a significant degree in the first place. I don't know many of us who will have a tire installed on our high-buck trikes without it being perfectly balanced. True, they can extend tire life and reduce cupping - if you were going to ignore normal maintenance and balance over the lifetime of your tires.

I am open for someone to jump in and educate me if I am wrong, but until then I recommend that everyone keep their $169 per wheel in their pockets. Or better yet, just mail it to me.

Yes - they are not made for trikes - I have seen the ads. I have no knowledge of how well they work but a MUCH lower-cost alternative is something like Dyna-Beads - which does the same job.

Hello new here . I use Dynabeads in my tires.the problem is that a tire is out of balance because there is more rubber in one spot of the tire , as it wears the balance changes.the dynabeabs dynamicaly balance as the tire wears , keeping a constant balance.$9.95 a wheel and no UGLY wheel weights on you rims. a small bling factor.And the dynabeads can be reused.Yes put that money back in your pocket .check <a href="http://www.dynabeads.com" target="_blank">DynaBeads</a>. Tires can be out of balance for many reasons including inner belt variations, soft and hard spots in rubber, etc., etc. While the static, fixed balance may work fine on new tires I 've found that even on cars I end up rebalancing and the tire changes. Also, fixed weights do not account for variations in the way the tires rolls due to temperature, foreign material in the tread or on the wheel itself. Auto balancers such as
Centramatics or Dynabeads solve these problems and tires & wheels stay balanced regardless of what is affecting them. I've had Dynabeads and tehy worked well. When I triked I had the Centramatics installed on the front so I wouldn't have to deal with replacing beads when changing tires and worrying about beads entering valve stem.

I think both systems add to the tire balancing problem in a positive way.

Sorry - I meant to say "They are NOW made for trikes". But WOW! what an expense. The cost/benefit factor has got to be in favor of DynaBeads.

I'm still using wheel-weights because I have a motorcycle-specific "Slime" like product in all three tires to immediately seal all punctures. NOT compatible with DynaBeads unless you wanna thump-thump-thump down the road.
