    Default F4 Custom Windshields

    I have a 2009 Goldwing/Roadsmith Trike with a 6 degree rake kit installed.
I like to know how many people might have put a F4 custom windshield on their roadsmith trike with a 6 degree rake.
What size windshield did you install?
I am looking at the +2 vented or the +4 vented windshield.
If you installed the +4 with vent how much air do you receive?
I like air flow in the hot summer days.
I do have ALL Baker wings installed on my trike.

Can't speak for the rake , but the F4 was the best investment I made . So clear ( even after 4 years) I have the + 4 no vent . The standard and + 2 will allow you to raise and lower it bit the + 4 won't move . Wife ( ask Honey ) says less wind on her.

I have a +4 with vent on a 3.5 rake on a 1996 GL1500 roadsmith, plus baker wings. In the HOT of SC where I rids you need both the vent and the wings to bring the air in. I think the Bike rides a litte smoother with the vent open but maybe my brain over thinking it.

I don't know what difference a trike would make, but I put an F4 on my last wing a 2003 that was same height as factory and got to say it spoiled me. My 2010 which is now triked has a factory shield and it doesn't have the clarity, not to mention the scratch resistance. Down side is the F4 cost double what any other brand does. My most missed advantage was I could clean it with whatever I wanted, even Windex with ammonia and paper towels.

You said "I don't know what difference a trike would make, but I put an F4 on my last wing a 2003 that was same height as factory and got to say it spoiled me."
The difference a trike makes on the height of your windshield is when you rake the front end.
Your windshield leans back more being that the trike is raked then what a 2 wheeler does, they are more straight up & down.
That is why I need to make up my mind on putting on a +2 or a +4.
I like to get other peoples views that might have installed them on their trike.
I am glad to hear that you and others are very well pleased with the F4 windshield.

    I must be missing something!
What does the rake have to do with the windshield?
    The two are not attached!!

We have the F4+4 with the vent, and when to gets hot you will want the vent.
The only down side to the vent is some water comes through when it rains hard.

I have a F-4 + two with a 6 rake and I love it. The optics are so much better than the Tulsa that I took off of the trike.

Plus 2 on my Valkyrie Interstate with the Roadsmith kit. Now I can either look just over the top or thru the windshield. Great optics, it doesn't flex as much at high speeds and it doesn't scratch.

Another vote for the F4 Tall Windshield. I have 5.5 degree rake and Tow-Pac kit,
but that should not matter. Also have all the baker wings from Windwings to
Trikewings.. Lots of options for cooling in summer, and helps keep me warm in
    winter.

I taped a 2" piece of cardboard on the top of my windshield to see if I can see over it when windshield is down all the way.
It was close but I felt the +2 top of the windshield would have been right at my sight area.
So I opted for the +4................Hope I made the right choice.

Have a 03 GL / CSC kit with a 4.5 rake with a +4 vented F-4. Best dang investment I made on the trike. Was a little aprehensive abt looking thru it, but did it anyway for Wifey's sake. Now she buffets less & I dont need the white cane while driving in the rain!! Absolutely love the darn thing!!

    Question Re: F4 Custom Windshields

I have a Valkyrie standard, 6 degree rake with the OEM Hondaline windshield. I'm always looking over the top of the windshield. I'd really have to dip my head down to look through it.

I was just looking at the F4 website and saw that they make a windshield for my ride that's 4" taller (and 1.5 " wider on each side) I'm wondering if it would be that much of an improvement to justify the cost.

Any thoughts on the benefits of either looking over or through a windshield?

You won't get your face washed in a down pour
You won't get all that much needed nutrition from the bugs that get stuck in your teeth.
Only problem I have is going directly into the sun at sun up or driving opposite direction at sun down. Glare.
Being short, 5'7" ( not as short as Nana ) sorry couldn't resist the comment. I have never had the luxury of having a shield low enough to see over.
Check out the " f4 winshield 2009 ride ", at the end you can see what I mean.

Bottom line, "you pays your money and takes your choice". I've had two instances where looking thru a windshield almost caused me to crash. One where mud on the road was thrown up on my windshield and I was blinded for several miles struggling to look around the windshield
and another one when dew coated the windshield and the sun made it seem like thousands of lights blinding me. Nearly hit a parked car. Just recently riding in heavy fog which coated the windshield I was able to look over it with a bit of a stretch and ride for several many miles to get out of it.
Give yourself the option to look over it for safety. Perfect for me is looking thru the windshield, but able to look over it with just a little stretch.

Shimpy got it right: Give yourself the option to look over it for safety. Perfect for me is looking thru the windshield, but able to look over it with just a little stretch.

I like to just look over the shield but it might just save your head - I saw a back tire suddenly shred of an 18-wheeler and the pieces came flying at me. I ducked my head behind the shield just in time to avoid getting hit in the face with a slab of hard rubber.
